In my last two vehicle I had it mounted on the windshield just above the rear view mirror. I would then either tap into the overhead wiring or run the wire across the headliner down behind the A pillar into the fuse box. But I can't do that on the Tahoe because of the "camouflage" printed on the window and the suction cups don't stick very well.

I could put it to the left of that on the plain glass but it then almost becomes too close to me and I'm not too crazy about the idea of having it below the mirror as it's too easy to see from outside. I thought about a visor mount as well but that puts it almost over my head and I just can't quickly glance at it.

Where is yours? Other ideas?

I personally don't own a radar detector, but how about just behind and/or below the rear view mirror? That is where I suction-cup my front plate to the windshield when needed...

I ahve the 9500ix and its hardwired into one of the ignition wires behind the dash. I was aiming to mount it in the viso with a clip but like you said that puts it right ontop of my head (I still may do it and see, but you can always go first and post a pic :))
So as of no its right on top of my registration and inspection stickers on the bottom left driver side corner. Works good from there and reduces exterior visibility.

I have seen a Yukon that had an overhead console spot just for the radar detector, it sat right above the mirror. I've also seen them velcroed on top of the dash, it's not as apparent as it would be suction cupped to the windshield. Thats what I would go with.

I never liked on top of the dash, plus it reduces the effective range of the detector as well. Higher on the windshield is the preferred mounting location.

Let me know. I'm using an old Whister I got in 2004, but I was about to pull the trigger on a V1 before I decided to get the Tahoe.

I'd love to see how it looks installed if you get it.

I have my valentine hardwired in my 05 that has the little dots and I dont have a problem with it holding with it resting on the mirror. I have also used it in my 08 Yukon and didnt have any problems with it holding. I always put just a little bit of spit on the suction cups when putting it up and never have problems with it falling down.
