Just like the title says. I am going from block to probably a turbo or supercharger and need some ideas. I want something reliable but different. I have a 4.8 right. Ow and it's still running fine, but I want to build something slowly over the next year or two and drop it in. Originally I was going to order a supercharged 6.2 but I am pretty sure I can build it a little cheaper and make it bullet proof. I will be doing a new trans and changing gears and all that to handle 500+

I'd say go with an LQ4 6.0 or the LQ9 6.0 (higher compression 10:01 and a few other differences has slightly more hp stock 345, but due to the high compression you need 93)

What are your goals for the truck? 500hp is doable but u may end up with a rather radical cam/stall setup. My ultimate goal is around 550-600hp but with FI. I want a fairly streetable setup and my current cam setup and stall is borderline what I'd want in a daily driver and is ready for a blower to put me at my goal. I would suggest going 4l80 at that power level. That's what I'm doing.

If your wantingredients good drivability and not having to deal with drivability loss from a radical cam/stall combo, 4.8L forced induction is the way to go. The 4.8L has proven many times to be a forced induction monster due to block strength and shorter stroke. Been many junk yard builds over 700whp.
