I have 4 Tahoes that I am looking at. Which one would be the best bet and cheapest to repair in the long run?

1. 1996 Tahoe 4x4 165k miles. $1800 asking price. Has had the following done.
-a/c completely replaced
-full tranny service
-steering components replaced
-2008 Tahoe rims
The bad -has slight engine knock
-all blue interior

2. 1996 Tahoe 4x4 186k miles. $1800 obo asking price.

-Trans pops out of gear sometimes but does not slip.

3. 1999 Tahoe 4x4 185k miles. $2200 asking price.

-Haven't got to see this one yet but soon.

4. 1995 Tahoe 4x4 316k miles. $2200 asking price.

-No mechanical problems.
-Crack in pass side windshield.
-Interior stained

Any comments or recommendations are welcome. Lead me in the right direction. I want to make the most out of my purchase. Thanks in advance.

Any of them will require tranny work someday soon with the exception of #4, it's very likely it was already done but I would expect engine problems with that one at some point.

all of them are getting up there in the milage, and will probably all need work from time to time.

transmission job is usually atleast $1500.

316K is a LOT of miles. i'd stear toward one of the others.

IMO i'd go look at the 99. with seeing whats sitting bedise it on the lot and its only 2200, i'd look at it really really well.

its really had to say which one is going to be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks guys but there are not many around here with less than 140k miles. I've seen a couple for $6000 that have 200k miles on them. I figure if I can spend a little less for the same mileage I can come out ahead. By the was the first one is owned by a NAPA parts guy who serviced the Tahoe regularly (at least every 3500 miles or less) and it also comes with all new tuneup parts ready to be installed(cap, rotor, coil, wires, plugs, oil filter, air filter).

Please any other comments welcome.

That one would be on top of my list but if it were.me I'd try waiting out on one with less miles.
I picked up my Tahoe with only 75K on the clock, only repair it has needed 11K miles later was a new intake gasket.

I did mine that was a bit of a pain. If any one does this mark the distributor before you pull it out.

not one of those....... save your money, id suggest and to be 100percent honest, buy a newer lower mileage car/truck/suv bcuz these things gives problems once they hit that high of mileage and such. dont buy one since its cheap

I agree I say spend 5 grand and you'll have so many more options. As for not too many around,I drove 6 hours to get mine and I'm glad I did!

You should be able to get something with less mileage, and be around $5,000. It will cost more to get it, but may cost you less after several years of driving. Check the "Trading Post" or "Car Trader".
