Any of you guys with the 3:42 gear drive around town in "3" instead of "D"?? If I hit overdrive running around town my RPM's are so low it drives me crazy. There is no power when you are running 1200rpm. Just wondering if anyone else does the same thing. Let me know.

nobody? Let me ask a different question.....

For you guys with a 3:42 gear...What RPM are you guys running at 45mph?? Mine will drop to as low as 1000 rpm if I hit OD. Give me some feedback.

doubtful anyone is going to needlessly run in a lower gear when higher ones are available with gas prices being what they are. low RPMs are what it is supposed to be doing. if you need power, it'll downshift WHEN you need it and not needlessly when u dont.

Not sure what I'm running but it's a stock rear end 2000 LT with limited slip. I've noticed that my rpms are really low especially on the freeway.

1000 rpm @ 45mph is about right with 3.42 gears. a tune will liven it up and tow/haul mode can be modified to make the shift pattern more aggressive. I turn mine on in traffic when I want it more responsive. it will stay out of O/D until there is almost no load. stock these trucks are slugs thanks to GM torque management.

If anyone reads this that has 4:10 gears in the rear, can you tell me what you are running for RPM on the highway around 70mph???

If I leave it in "D" in town, it downshifts all the time because the RPM's are so low. How much of a change in RPM did you see at 65mph with the 4:11 gears??
