Why are we turning the ignition on and off WITH the key?

You turned the key on cars for 30 years before anybody put grab handles on the ignition key slot. Didn't kill many keys.

I like the phrase "grab handle"! The grab handle also makes it easier to figure out where the key goes. It cuts down on the "stabbing" method of finding the keyhole.

I don't ever recall having a vehicle before my 2010 Tahoe that didn't have a grab handle. The missing grab handle is also the first thing I noticed that was wrong with my Tahoe when I started it up for the first time.

It didn't take too long to figure out that the woodgrain look was also wrong while driving home. And the third-row seats were wrong and had to go. And those ugly gold emblems on the front and back of the Tahoe were just plain wrong. And . . . :D

For somebody who could have bought any other vehicle than the one you have, you sure do complain a lot. I guess all the others were even worse, which is why you probably didn't buy another Ford.

Did you also notice that the key got longer, thicker, and double-sided with that change? How about that ignition switch getting bigger and more expensive without adding much weight and becoming easier to turn?

Sorry but I would think that you almost deserve the consequences/costs involved if you manage to break your key off in your ignition...how do you even do that???

Same with my silverado..... N yea we all didn't haves the plastic thing in the past. Really no need to complain since yea.... My 94 explorer doesn't have it and its hard as a ***** and doesn't break.... It's hard to break the key and if you do then..... I wouldn't blame the key.....

its called cost cutting, without notice

Best answer in the thread, and accurately reflects why lots of stuff that used to be found in GM vehicles is no longer there. Of course, the price of the product didn't go down to reflect GM's cheapness.

Best reason why the grab handle should be there. I just love it when I'm right. :Big Laugh:

If u do have the plastic piece its easier to steal the truck.... Trust me my cylinder is broken and the plastic let's it start without key. If it didn't have it atleast they would need something tobstick in there to turn..... Better off without the piece if I were u
