*********UPDATE************
Went to the dealership today and they had the big ***** up on the lift with the crossmember, transfer case and drive shaft out of it as well as the tranny.
They had the trans apart and apparently it is nuked, all of the high gear and overdrive parts were shattered all over the place. The mechanic said that it will be cheaper to put a GM rebuild in it than it will be to rebuild the current one based on the parts and labor that would be required. They were calling the warranty company to get the approval and were rather sure that they would be sending someone out to inspect.

I have had the car a total of 3 days, the warranty was $1650 for 3 years/ 36,000 miles bumper to bumper with no deductible and this repair is going to be probably $2500 I would imagine??? Warranty company is taking this one in the rear!
I hope that they do not want to try and put a used boneyard transmission in there. That will be war.

lol, I bought my DSM and knew the engine was going south, got the warranty. 2 months and 2,000 miles later, they got to spend $6,000 on a new engine.

I'm not sure who you're talkin' to, but if it's me, allow me to clarify:

I love my truck! and I didn't start this thread either, but just imagine how sick our trucks would've been from the factory if the ******* "bottom line boys" (aka greedy execs) let the engineers do what they wanted!!!!!! They would've been built like brick shit houses!

....and......I believe that EVERY manufacturer has flaws! EVERY MANUFACTURER!!

That being said, if you don't know about American car companies sellin' out the American people for cash money, take a trip to Detroit sometime and ask them (the out-of-work-ers)! If they would've kept their game tight (like they should have), there wouldn't have been the massive flood of imports in the first place! I mean, come on, The ******* Cadillac Cimmaron??? Are you serious right now GM???

Anyway, nothin' but love! No hard feelin's! Keep it real homie! Don't nobody go in the bathroom for 35-45 minute!

And by the way, in case you didn't know, Einhorn is Finkle, Finkle is Einhorn!

I could have posted it over on the mustang forum and got a bunch of people to agree with me and get the old " That is what you get for buyng a GM" but thought...what would be the fun in that?? Just because you own a perticular product doesn't mean that you have no right to ***** about it. I did sense your slight sarcasam, however it is amazing how people come out of the woodwork that have had the same problem.
Point is, as stated, every single car has their issues. When they come out with a "perfect car" that never breaks, whoever "they" is will be rich.

As far as not knowing how to buy a car, I guess that buying a one owner car that was bought and serviced at the same dealership I bought it from, having every service record (oil every 3000-4000 miles, rotate tires every 6000-8000 and everything else that is in the maintence guide in the glove box checked off with delaership records to prove it) is just a waste of time on my part. The bottom line is that on this trans (4L60e) the factory service reccomendation is not sufficent. So I bought a warranty, thank God.

The warranty company is sending out an inspector tomorrow (Thursday) to take a look at the carnage and approve the repair, whatever it may be.

To give you all an insight in to my rage I will give you a history of the last 4 cars we have owned.
-2008 Buick Enclave (new)-traded in at 10,000 miles because it was in the shop 14 times in 8 months (and not for oil changes and tire rotations)

-2009 Buick Enclave(new)-Bought to replace the previously mentioned POS-Traded in at 5,000 miles after 4 service trips for electrical problems, stranding my wife twice with no start problem and a catastrophic transmission failure (i am talking fluid all over the street like some nascar shit).

-2007 Yukon Denali- (used) relitavely trouble free other than the CEL that I had to turn off constantly because the transmission in this one was a POS too. Traded today....see below.

So now on to today's events. My wife drives 160 miles south to a friend of the family's chevrolet dealership to pick up her "new used" car. To make a long story short we bought the Denali real right and sold it and made $. The new-used car is a 2004 Suburban Z71, black/gray, loaded, 70k miles. She gets 5 miles from the dealership (who mind you "100 point inspected" the car) and she said it felt like she hit a pot hole, but there was no pot hole. The popping noise that she heard was the transmission going out of this one!! :flame: She said that it did not feel right from the first time she pulled off of the lot. I know that this is not a new vehicle, I know that the trans is the weak link in these, but 70k, really????? I wish that the federal government had never bailed out GM so that they would have crashed and burned like they deserved to. When you build an inferior product that you have to rebate to the point of bankrupting you to get people to buy it....not a good way to do business. Would have been cheaper for us, the tax payers, to just pay all the warranty claims outstanding than keep throwing good money after bad product.

GM:biggun:

Needless to say, I am a little pissed right now.

Rant over.......

Now as to what is wrong with it. It has 1st and 2nd gear, no 3rd or drive. There was a big popping noise right before it went out??? Will they rebuild it or just put a new one in there?

I am not sure what I am going to do, they put my wife right back in to her denali and limped this thing to their service department. I am thinking about telling them to keep their check (we got money back from the Denali, obviously) and shread the paperwork. And going to buy an Expedition EL or a Sequoia?? Probably better off to not do anything until Monday when I calm down a bit.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have owned, built and raced GM vehicles for years and really have not had that type of bad luck. I hope your next buy is trouble free buddy. Good Luck!!!
