The ignition in my 97 yukon 4 door does not go backwards to the accessory position..

Ive searched and found alot of people asking that, but about newer trucks where you need to turn the key forward instead and not backwards. Well my key does have that click before it gets to the ignition turn on one, but it doesnt do anything.

My key will just not go back. I even looked in the manual and it says that my key is supposed to go BACKWARDS for accessory.. Any ideas?

The accessory position has never worked since i got this truck a few years ago.

Worn key or ignition switch . In my 01' Chevy van, I can only turn back if I use a newer key.

unknown at this time.
you will likely need to get you lock cylinder re-pinned with a new key. mine does the same when when turned 180° out. which it should work in either flat side of the key. and that click is called the off position it leave power off but leave the steering wheel unlocked. you may notice your gear indicator on at the same time.

Mine works but it takes a lot of jiggling of the key. It's probably worn out.
