Why no PPV / SSV category for the NBS?

Ya Michigan State police and NYSP have been hard core Tahoe PPV agencies for a long time now.


Texas becoming that way also. I talked to a trooper a month ago and he said the Charger's are (No Surprise) JUNK and they're going to all Tahoe's soon.

No suprise since the Tahoe PPV's are only made in Texas :cool:

Way back in the 80's and 90's Texas Troopers had alot of Camaros and Mustangs. I know for the 3rd gen Camaro--82-92--the police option code was B4c. Back then police only RS Camaros came with the 350 tpi motors. Public couldn't get it.

Yup 91-92 B4C Camaro. Most were 350 TPI L98's. but You could get a 305/T-5 manual car but those were VERY RARE !!! Then from '93-02 it was the LT1/LS1 Z28's. Most were the 4L60E some were special ordered with the T-56

When I "did time"(lived in Oklahoma) It was nothing but Crown vic's and Camaro B4C's. Same thing when I visited family in California in the 00's

Chargers............a vehicle that has a motor that eats more lifters and cams then GM AFM/DOD trucks


Ya I REALLY wanted to get a 12-14 body style retired Charger police pkg. Had chances to get some retired highway patrol units for "Peanuts". But I read SO MANY horrors stories on the HEMI having those issues. I decided to focus on a Tahoe PPV for my next purchase.:boti:


Heck I RARELY every see Chargers past 150K miles at the surplus auctions. Most are "Done" at 125K or less :superhack:

I remember taking drivers Ed in retired police Ford Grand Torino’s. If that doesn’t show my age, nothing will. Those cars had some definite giddy ups to them.

Lucky. My high school got our PDs retired Dodge Intrepid....
Side note, if you have the in car part of the class right after metal shop you can override the teachers brake pedal by putting your steel toe boot up under your pedal.

I just bought a 2012 PPV, mainly to tow our 3500 lb. travel trailer. Has all the cooling options, low profile, stability, but doesn't have the "towing/trailer" function (on the shift lever). Seems to tow well, lots of power, but tends to shift frequently between 5th and 6th unless you compensate with acceleration on grades. Not many hitch options either, but found one that works. Hoping the transmission can handle the towing demands without damage... no issues so far. GM says the PPV units are don't equipped for towing... Anyone else out there towing with a PPV? you can get both of the options fron a reg tahoe, hit the junkyard for the the rear inner bumper with hitch and the shift lever with towhaul, the wires are there just need to splice them .
