Wife hates my new 2006 Yukon XL Denali

I don't think it's mold but today I did take a can of Lysol and spray it into the air intake to kill any bacteria in the lines. I also am going to replace the air cabin filter. I bought one of those air cleaning bombs and I think that made it worse.

06's do not come with cabin filter. Likely will have to retrofit. Easy job.

That being said clean it out in there. Could be a bunch of pine needles and leaves and what not

I was just smelling the leather. I am wondering if it just needs a really good cleaning. It looks new but does not smell new.

I had some vibration in my steering wheel on my 2005 Yukon and a common issue is the steering shaft and bearing. I replaced both items myself (easy fix) and the vibration is gone. My truck was not unstable, but the steering wheel vibrated quite a bit.

They are famous for idler arms and Pitman arms going bad and of course the recall on the steering shaft. Been there done that

I bought my 2005 Yukon XL new. At about 20k miles, my son (an ASE Master Tech +) told me to leave the truck with him and he would replace the intermediate steering shaft under warranty. I'm at 185k miles now, and I've never had another problem with that. The 4L60 transmission is another story.... I am on the third transmission. The first one was showing a lot of metal in the pan at 80k miles, so I had the dealer install a GM Reamanufactered transmission, and they offered a "Service for Life" warranty as long as I took it back to them. At 170k miles, the 3rd/4th gear package failed. They honored the warranty, and rebuilt the entire trans at no charge.

I still think I need to change out the trans for a stronger one, maybe a 4L80 or 4L85. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this as an option? I assume it would require a software upgrade as well.

I think @01ssreda4 did this to his Denali a while back. Have a look around for the build post.

Well I guess I dun screwed up. I wanted an 06 Denali. Even if I replace the parts to make the steering nice and tight she now advises that because It does not have side airbags for the second and third Row, her and the kids will not be riding in it. I doubt she will be changing her mind.

So, I will have to sell it at some point. I still have to determine why the service Ride soon light is on. I can hear the pump so what else would I need to check?

Still safer than any car or little SUV. Well, Buick Terraza's had all those airbags if memory serves, dirt cheap to buy and get good mileage and while narrower, the 3rd row is larger than our big trucks. Tom on here was t-***** in his new to him Yukon Denali a few years ago. He went right out and bought another one, an XL this time. Which does she want first, a 3 rows of airbags or a new house?
