Will not start and keeps blowing # 20 (prnd21) fuse when shifting out of park

How many times has a shade tree mech got you into a bigger bind than when you started

It could be is the circuit which is shorting the tranny but it should have it own harness too. Which means the short would have to be in the bundle still where they all meet up front. keep working it.

While the truck has been down I replaced the evaporator core inside the dash so my ac would work. When I had the dash out I personally expected each wire. The wires in the whole truck are fine. One or two of them might be put back together wrong. Or there might be a component gone bad but no bad wires. The two pink wires that come from the number 20 fuse 10amp, one goes to the instrument cluster and the other goes into the main round wiring harness plug on the pass. Side of the trans. This was spliced into about 25inches from this plug. As well as both plug ins on the neutral safety switch. The problem has to lie in those wires. Crossed mis matched or something. Those three plug ins have several wires that are the same color and size going to them. I think that no good shade tree wanna be mechanic was just guessing at it, when he put them back together. The truck performed fine til those wires got tangled into the front 4wd driveshaft. It started and had all gears. See the mechanic put the tray in and told me to test drive it. So I did. It cranked shifted everything worked til I tested the 4wd out. 4wd worked great til the drive shaft twisted up those wires. Half ass mf did not secure the wiring harness. He said he would fix the problem. I had that wrecked Yukon I mentioned earlier. So I robbed the wiring harness from it. Few days later he called and said he was tired of fooling with it. I was not going to force him to f up my truck any further.
When I got It back I had to jump that wire to the starter relay just to get it back home.

So I need to figure out how to properly reinstall those wires that got twisted out and I should be good to go. With the wires properly put back together I should be in good shape. Then I can scan my truck and replace what is needed. The scanner would not give an accurate reading if those wires where in the wrong place, would it?

you probably already mentioned it, but i havent read your whole thread, have you tried replacing the prndl switch on the trans?? i have seen these go nuts internally and cause the same exact problems your having with the fuse blowing and the indicator going out when you try to start.

location wise it should not affect code reading. connection wise it will screw you up. Let me know of any other components that might be screwed from the shaft mishap and I will pass those along too.

Ok I swapped the two pink wires around that go to the main trans. Harness round plug.
My fuse no longer blows, but my trans is still in limp mode. Any ideas? My shift indicator light still acts funny, it's prob. A crossed wire that goes to the neutral safety switch. Plz somebody chime in,,!!!
