Personally unless you get a nice set of ported heads, be it a set of 243's, 317's or aftermarket, and a nice little cam and supporting mods I wouldnt bother with the time.
A stock head of either is a waste of time and effort. Also an LS6 cam will give minimal gains on a 6.0l, I'd go a larger cam for the displacement. Vinci Hi Performance hasa 216/224 cam that would be a nice fit for ya. Debating that cam myself if I deside to cam the Hoe.

For the stock cam specs if your curious check this out- http://www.smokemup.com/tech/ls1.php

Great info here X2

As a matter, you just stated the exact cam duration, Ive been looking at for maybe a year now. And in my book will outperform a 224 cam, all these guys are runing to get. In a heavy vehicle, like a tahoe or suburban, I would say that is the key.

I could not agree with you more. Guys look at the 224 cause is gets rave reviews on the F and Y bodies. Only problem is they weight 3400lbs not 6400lbs. Low End torqueand a solid mid range to 6k-6200rpm is where its at IMO.

Only problem with the L92 heads according to the write up that Car Craft did is they really don't out perform the stock lq4 heads until you're above 4800rpm. Below that the LQ4 heads worked better. I don't know about most people but I have my trucks to pull stuff meaning that bottom end grunt is a lot more important than what it does from 5k up in the rpm range. If I was putting it in a f-body then hell yea I'd build the crap out of it for top end with a donkey **** cam and mean heads. For a truck though, I'd save some money and just go with a shorter duration (like a 214-220) cam with around .550-.570 lift and run it on the stock heads. Then you'd have a torque monster that can pull a trailer effectively. You may not outrun a corvette but you'll definately out pull it. If you want to outrun stuff get you a car that's designed for top end and build the crap out of it. I put a 218/218 .565/.570 in my 5.3 on stock heads and I'm so happy with it I'm going to be calling TSP up very soon to get their advice on a custom short duration torquer cam for my 6.0.
