so high performance parts = short life span no matter how they are driven? Granted, if I'm driving a Ferrari I probably don't care about $300 brake pads once a year or something but still what is it about "high performance" brake pads that makes them last such a short amount of time?

No, it was just saying that if I did the short life span wouldn't really matter at that point.
