Hey guys,
I have a 2010 chevy tahoe LS, 2wd, and since I bought it, I noticed there is wind noise coming from the front. I checked the doors, but they already have rubber or foam (factory stock) insulation. So where does this wind sound come from? Of course it gets more with speed.

The summer here in Kuwait is really very hot. So when driving in summer, even a/c is on max, hot wind comes inside cabin, and looses the efficiency of a/c.

Any recommendations or solutions? I searched the forum here, but could not find any useful solution.

Thanks

Has the windshield been replaced before? If its not the doors I would think the windshield has been replaced and was not seated/sealed very good....

Did you ever figure out your problem? I'm having the same problem with my new 2011 Tahoe LT, have wind noise coming from the drivers side. It's either the drivers side door, window, front drivers side windsheild, etc. Going to take in to dealership after the holidays, maybe with your replie I can have something for them to go by.

Doors are pretty heavy. I heard the hinges go bad once in a while due to the weight or maybe it was installed wrong. It definitely sounds like something is not aligned. How are the gaps compared to the other side?

Gaps

Never thought about checking the door gaps, I'll look into it tomorrow. Maybe the door did get out of alignment or has a bigger gap than it should. Thanks for the tip.

At my work we have a fleet of f350's and chevy 3500's. The hinges on the chevys are complete garbage! I had to buy a shim from the dealer because the striker plate on the driver door was misaligned form the factory and digging into the latch. My door is aligned perfect now but yes there is lots of wind noise on the highway and always has been. I have retracted the mirrors with the cruise at 75 and the wind noise gets louder so my guess it is the mirrors.

Did you ever get this fixed? I have a 2011 Yukon Denali with the same issue.

jshanks,

Most wind noise is caused by either leaking seals or misaligned body surfaces. Have you had the vehicle checked and test driven by a technician?

Has any after market equipment been installed?

I have had it checked by a tech. They heard the noise so they double sided taped the windshield trim down, replaced the weatherstrip that runs across the top of the doors, and replaced the door seals on the front doors. They also said everything was aligned correctly. I just picked it up and on the ride home it still has the high pitced whistle from the mirrors or windshield, hard to tell. I do have after market vent visors and a sunroof visor that I installed in an attempt of stopping the noise. Makes the noise with them on or off.

What is the mod / tsb for extra foam under the mirrors all about?

Thanks for the response,
Joel
