Just wanted to let you know they have Belt squeak fix sprays in the Automotive section of Walmart that actually work and for a long time, I think by Preston is a yellow can.
WD40 can wear belts a bit because they contain alcohol....

if it is belt squeal change the belt.

otherwise it could be the idler pulley/ tensioner on its way out.

+1 same thing happened to the GMC Canyon I had. It was the idler pulley going out.

it sucks cus it can be so many different things cus everything has a pulley but ima start at the belt and get the squeak while its at a minimum so later on im not one of those people who start their car and it squeaks so loud it hurts your ears..... i hate those people lol

My dad used to use a bar of soap on his old truck, just start the engine and hold the soap on the belt, dont know as if it fixed anything besides the squeak but it worked for a while. I guess some of that moisture soap might(key word) lengthen the life of the rubber but who knows. Temporary fix at the least

2x mine squeeked untill I changed out the idler and tension pulley. I knew it was't the belt cause I changed them out a month earlie

yea well i was on my way home yesterday and my belt came off....all that waS left of the idler pulled was the metal ring and the bearing balls poping out, i mean it looked fried, so yea replaced it after i had to tow it home and now its all good!
