Just acquired a "new-to-me" 2008 Yukon XL Denali with 20 inch chrome wheels. I'm attempting to get ahead start on the winter driving season and would like to put together a nice snow tire/wheel combo. I'm looking for recommendations on which size works best for the Denali's capabilities on the wintery streets of Michigan. I know that most of the full size trucks wheels are interchangeable. Can I purchase a nice 17" x 7.5" wheel (6x139 bolt pattern) and apply a tire that will keep my speedo relatively accurate? From an online tire size conversion calculator, it looks like a 265/70/17 will be an appropriate fit. Will this size tire seat good on a 7.5" wide wheel? Any issues with brakes or suspension components? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I run a set of OEM 20" wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors on them. Work beautifully here in Wisconsin.

Look up Firestone Winterforce UVs. Great reviews. I have been using them for 2 winters now and I wouldn't get anything else. It's like glue on ice and snow. I use 265/70/17. They are even studdable if you want added. And not to mention the price $111-$130.

285/45/22 Blizzak's for me in MN. Snow tires are awesome. No need to go all deep donut either.

I would immediately move to the deep south if I actually had to buy a true set of winter tires!

I moved from the deep south (Tampa fl). Lived there 15long years. The hell with 90 degree heat 9 months out of the year. Where I am now all summer so far it has only hit 90 5 times all year. You can keep your heat. Enjoy.

Another vote for Blizzak's. They have good reviews when it comes to winter grip and performance.
