Overall loving my new Tahoe, but the ice buildup is treacherous, and the worst of any car in my memory. I think it needs a heater element on the bottom of the glass.

This. I think every vehicle should have the lower section of the windshield heated like many of the rear ones are.
And, they just clearly need to redesign the defrost vents on the dash to get lower on the windshield. Big design miss on gm’s part. A dangerous one too!
