Wiper malfunction, help please

On the way home tonight while using my front wipers on my 2011 denali xl they suddenly stopped in the up position. Luckily I live less than ten minutes from work so I made it home ok. I tried to push the arms back down, but they seem locked in place and I didn't want to push to hard and really break something. When I hit the wiper switch, I hear the motor running, but nothing happens.
Any ideas?

After messing with them a little, if I push the wiper button and pull the wipers a little farther, they will go back down. But every time I turn them on they go up and stick in the same spot.
Since no one seems to have any guidance on here, I'm off to the dealer on friday.
