Worth it to repaint it?

So my truck is finally starting to show its age. The ridges in the hood are losing paint and clear coat, and so is the roof. The roof actually looks like something spilled on it and it ate the paint away, and is starting to rust.

So, now I have to ask myself, "Should I get it repainted or just let it go?"

An entire good repaint will cost about 10k, getting rid of dents and spot-fixing parts here and there. I also got a quote from a place called Miracle Auto Body & Paint and they quoted me about 2k. They'd sand down the roof and hood completely, and take away most of the other paint and redo it all.

Do you think it's worth it? I tend to wax it about twice a year, but it probably needs it about 4 times a year. The paint loses its 'smoothness' very fast.

What do you all think?

I have no plans to sell it. I plan to keep it until it dies since it's not really worth too much. Eventually, I'll be buying another car and keeping the Tahoe.

I guess what I'm more interested is in other people who have repainted and how long they expect that to last?

you could always rat rod it your self. get flat black and matte clear. does not take talent or skill. and moisture lines add individuality to the paint job.

repaint it but see if you can do the initial roof and hood work your self and throw some primer to keep it covered until you get it to a paint shop so the rust does not get out of hand. It will also keep costs down.

or perhaps if you can't color match a hood/roof job to the rest of the truck start it as a two tone project. Still debating that myself. Hopefully one day it will happen.

if its done right it should last just fine, if you have a "cheap" job done it will look like the driver side rockers on my hoe... :(

It does not look like it. If you are not to bothered with it just handle the rust for now. And save some money for later for a good paint. My roof is the same way but it can wait till everything else is done.

I'd get it repainted if it was me but you can do it for MUCH less 10k if you learn how to do the body work yourself. I originally got quoted close to 10k to do body work and paint on my truck. Not wanting to spend that much I learned to do body work on my own and paid someone to spray it. When all was said and done I was out about 3500 total. It took a hear to complete cuz I'm slow but well worth it :)

Just my 2 cents...
