Worth it to repaint it?

Another thing you could look into is vinyl wrapping it. I paint for a living and if you want to keep cost down they can do amazing things with vinyl. Sometimes they make it hard to compete with, but a paint job will last long due to it being sealed (clearcoat). But either way i definately recommend getting something over the rust before it makes a mess because if you want to long to put something (paint or vinyl) it will pit on you and make things a whole lot worse. Just my opinion

Thanks for all of your replies, guys. Tomorrow, I'll take a bunch of pictures of the truck to show you it's current state. I have considered vinyling it, I think that would look pretty sick.

Hoods are replaceable. I plan on doing my own body work and paint when it's time. If you decide that your ride is salvageable, it's worth the time and effort you put in on the project. Even doing some of the work yourself can save some dough. 10K seems pretty high for paint and bodywork IMHO, that seems like a custom paint job range. Maybe getting a second ride will give you time to plan and work on it as you go. Ultimately it's falls on you to determine the final decision. A piece of advice, don't just paint over rust if you decide to do it yourself, the paint won't last in that area and it might look like crap.

unknown at this time.
just like mine though I don't have the rust color yet. Would adress the roof soon. I don't think they get the galvanic protection that the rest of body does.

I was planning to get mine painted sometime in the future (depending on where my budget lies). If you were looking to resell it, then its probably not worth it, as you'll never get your money back from the value of the truck but if you're keeping it, then its all on what you want, and what you're comfortable with.

I'd have to agree with the other brother bow tiers, the first question you need to answer is if you're keeping it or starting over with another one. Then you can answer the question about paint. IMHO it looks like a worthwhile project. You have invested some time in this one. That's time you never can get back. Blood sweat and tears account for something in this case. About mine, I love it and I will paint it and replace parts as long as I can to keep her looking good. Sometimes it's cheaper to keep her. Good luck with your decision. I have similar things going on with mine in regards to the paint fading and peeling. I replaced the hood easily for about $400.

Sunlitcomet, you are absolutely correct. When they paint these cars from the factory they rush through the assembly lines and dont do proper work on most vehicles. Of course your more high ends they are a little more praticular on what they do, but for the most part all your domestics and most imports its the least on there agenda. I really recommend in looking into vinyl just because you can get a design you can afford and worst case it wears off in 5-10 years which gives you plenty of time to figure out what you want to do.
