Dealerships always rip you off. I never buy anything from them unless it's unavailable anywhere else. "Security" etching is another scam some of them try to pull on people.

I did a 10 year sentence in the car business. We call the addendums “sucker stickers.”

However, after the Covid debacle/ supply chains, the dealers had the upper hand for a bit, and these addendums became a “take it or leave it” tactic and unfortunately supply and demand won, and the dealers sold a lot of crap on these.

Recently, we’ve been looking for a new Yukon for one of our Presidents, and the local dealer wanted to charge us for LoJack on a truck that already has Onstar, lol.

My advice would be to find a volume dealer with inventory. The model year is changing, and nobody wants to be without a chair when the music stops on the old models. Shop online, don’t take anything personally, but tell all of the internet departments that you shop at that you’re a legit buyer for a legit deal. If you find someone who treats you well, give them a shot.

Good luck!

Ok, thank you for this information! Wasn’t aware of the Costco service. I’m a member there and will look into it. Thank you!

I’ve been looking for infotainment screen protector and floor liners. I can’t find a screen protector with good reviews. The ones on Amazon, reviews say they don’t fit the 2024 Yukon screen well, leaving an exposed gap across the top. And the Husky floor liners, there doesn’t seem to be an option for the second row bucket seats; it says “does not fit power sliding center console models” which is what mine is. Any suggestions? Thanks!
You don’t need an infotainment screen protector. You can’t drop it, and unless you plan on having people in your vehicle throw hard objects at it, you won’t break it. Now, if you are talking the 2nd row screens…maybe..there have been people crack those…but the main one on the dash is fine, you’d be hard pressed to break it.

This is the offer that the local GMC dealer (Raleigh) gave me for a 2024 Yukon XL AT4 with AT4 premium plus package. A) is this a decent offer and B) would you get the line items I circled from the dealer or elsewhere? We had not previously discussed these items, and when I asked about them after seeing this offer, he said they do these things for all vehicles. That’s another $1,750 which to me seems steep for what it is but maybe that’s standard?

I get the 10-year/lifetime rust proofing. Had it applied before I drove our 2024 Yukon XL SLT off the lot last spring. I had it on my 4Runner and after 11 years on the road… zero regrets. And guess what, one of the first things the buyer asked me about was rust proofing (not much else to discuss with a Toyota lol).

Note: I live in Nova Scotia which has to be one of the worst places in North America for road salt, slush, ice, rain, freeze-thaw cycles, snow etc. for 4 months of the year.

I ran into this for the very first time ever the other day while looking for our new Tahoe. He texted me the quote. I was already ready to go cause I was so sick of talking to dealers all day. I look at the text and I see this:

1. nitrogen fill 99
2. theft 3,2,1 450
3. protective coating ( i assume ceramic coat) 999

he calls me. . . first thing i literally say is take that f'in s^^t off. he goes ok ok let me explain them. . . i say yah i know what they are.

he goes on and on and on. . . i follow up with. . . again take them off. . . i hang up with him. my wife goes. . . "throw that number away even if they drop the price a ton more. i'm not buying anything from people like that".

i mean at least ask me before putting them on without ever ever ever mentioning them. especially when we talked coatings and i said my buddy has a shop and he has been doing trucks and car for the past 40 plus years and is prob one of. the most respected in my area. he gets the craziest most high cost cars that come in from outside our area to get done. he does beautiful work and i won't even pay anywhere near what they were charging for what I assume is that Zurich product. or whatever it's called.

I mean trucks are stupid stupid high cost right now and past few years and keep climbing and they try this. maybe it's me but we need to do better as humans. we really do. I would give a pass if he mentioned these things pre sending me the price, but thinking maybe i won't notice.

no pass with us. especially my wife.

These are hilarious actually. I remember when nitrogen used to be a $50 add. $200 is getting insane considering I air down often…

I think most places charge about $50/window. So $100 for the front maybe is what I would have assumed is reasonable.
our nissan dealer does all out the door purchases free for like past 10 plus years. my wife's cousin is the parts manager there. i told him last night about the upcharges on mine. i just laughed.
