If you call XM radio and threaten to cancle, THEY WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP YOU AS A CUSTOMER! What I do is call and tell them you want to speak to customer service, then tell them you want to $70 a year speacial offer. Not only will they honor that 'no questions asked' they will also throw in an online subscription. I just did this yesterday so I know it is possible. They actually do have decent customer service, you just have to be the one to initiate it.

wow

it's a pre-paid service, your right, how can they send you to collections?! that's ********* and i'd fight it hard core... I've had sirius for 5 years, got lifetime XM with the new truck ($400). no bills ever again. ever.

But... then i discovered Pandora + iphone = heaven...

Pandora plays better, and more unsencored stuff than XM ever does!

XM Radio sent me to collections last year when I changed my address and they couldn’t get a hold of me to renew. Needless to say I was ******* pissed. However, one good thing about XM is that when they do send you to collections, they request that it does not hit your credit score. So essentially, they collections company will try to get the money, but they cannot report the collection to your credit score.

I have had both sirius and xm now. I wish I could get sirius in my denali, it is so much better than xm. Just my opinion.

I heard one person on Corvette Forum say XM sent a collection agency after him because he owed them $4.95. They couldn't track him down or something so they abused his credit record.

Be real careful dealing with XM and read the fine print. Everything they do is pretty much legal.

I would like to see the lifetime deal in writing. It is hard to believe that 10 years from now they will let the new owner get xm for $75 when they can screw him for more.

One other problem with lifetime is that if the company goes out of business they do so with your money. I wouldn't count on them being around 10 or even 5 years from now, especially with electronics. One only has to look at MSN Direct which is gone in Jan 2012. They offered "lifetime" service. Not enough people bought it so they said they are terminating MSN Direct in Jan 2012. Those with under 3 years gets a prorated rebate, over 3 years you are screwed.

Also keep in mnd on the lifetime subscriptions. I had a Sirius account on my Explorer and when I traded the Explorer on my Denali, I thought I could just have them switch it to an XM account as they are a merged company now.

They said no.

So I found a company called TSS Radio sells Sirius units that repace the XM units. They look exactly like an XM box and have the same connections. So for approx $100 I bought the unit for TSS and continued with Sirius in my Denali. It works just like XM from the factory stereo and in fact it says XM1, XM2 and XM3 on the stereo but it is playing Sirius.

Could you let me know what parts you picked up from them? My wife would love to have Sirius instead of XM. We have had a lot of problems with losing service with XM where we didn't with Sirius.

I have both, XM in the Tahoe and Sirius in the Benz. I prefer XM over Sirius personally, even though they are pretty much the exact same these days. I just am more used to the channel line up on XM which is why I like it more I think. The service is the same, there are no issues with losing service with XM that Sirius does not have.

Well I decided for now just to give XM a call and ended up with 5 months for $23 a month. Wife said she might just keep that and get the Gen 6 lockpick and Ipod lockpick combo instead of switching to Sirius.
