Woot!

I finally ordered the Delphi MPFI spider upgrade. Best $ for Canada was Rockauto at $283.

And I ordered the Taylor vmax intake spacer PN:11011. $275 from a local dealer. He claimed it was the last one in North America. Ok, wink, wink. Whatever, he was cheaper than anywhere else.

Just waiting for the MSd D6al and this new shit to arrive, then it's upgrade time!

I was getting bummed because at a little over 70,000kms(43,000miles) on the new crate motor, the engine has developed a miss. And of course it's over its warranty :(

So I'll do new ac delco plugs, msd cap, rotor, coil, ignition box, delphi mpfi and taylor spacer to see if the miss goes away. I already have msd wires.

I'm getting jazzed!!!

Not to poop on your party but I don't think a spacer will benefit you.

I think your getting confused with TB spacers.
This is the intake spacer.

TB spacers help mix fuel and air better. Except there is no fuel to mix in the Vortec, so they don't work.

But in the Vortec, the intake spacer increases the clearance of the rear air passages, thus increasing air flow. Nothing to do with fuel mixing at all, just increasing air flow by reducing the air blockage in the rear cyls. Its like increasing a pipe from 1/2" to 1" (random examples thrown out there), you just get more air flowing with the spacer.

I subscribe to the more air is better theorem.

Nice! I actually installed the VMAX on my Tahoe. I put in a 383 and figured it needed to breathe better since the damn injectors are in the manifold. I did run into a big issue... The fuel lines will run right into the side of the distributor on the right side. It will prevent you from plugging the wires back in. I had to get a tubing bender to curve the lines out. The wires will then slip under the lines and it will work. HOWEVER, the fuel lines will be stretched out from the fuel filter all the way up to the back of the motor. You'll have to get a flexible line installed to relive the pressure of them being pulled in that direction.

I contacted Taylor and they didn't understand what I was talking about. Turns out they bought out the company that developed this spacer and had no pics of the final installation so they have no idea.

I know what it is it just seems that if you do that you would still have a difference between the the amount of air in the front and back end. More air is always good but it just seems like a much bigger spacer. Your air will still travel fast through the intake filter but once it hits the larger plenum chamber will slow down in a larger area and then speed up again down the runners. Now it will have to work harder to slow down and speed up again becuase of more internal area. I just think if someone developed a better internally bored intake plenum it would be more productive:imo:

No, didn't buy the harness. I'm wondering if I should have though. I'll know when the IGN box gets here, if I"ll buy one or not.

Ha, sorry, maybe we could have worked out a deal...but I wanted to try the new digital 6AL box.

Ok, sorry to jump the gun.
You brought up a valid point.

Much like a river, the air will slow down as it's space expands, and then speed up as the space narrows. I think it's called the Ventrui effect?
But I think that the work required to slow down and speed up the air is offset by the extra air flowing through the intake. Much like how a SC consumes HP from the engine to make it work, but generates so much HP that it's still produces a positive outcome.

Do they work? IDK, the guys here who have one seem to like them, and they mostly put them on during a rebuild. And the guys here who don't have one are wondering if they work. For $275, I thought I'd test it. I was already going to be in there for the MPFI upgrade, so it won't take any extra work.

As for the better enginered intake? +1
I think that there is a marine intake available, but it's $$$ and I am cheap :D

Hey thanks for that heads up!!!

When I'm ready for install, I'll have the Mech have some fuel line parts on standby...haha..

Seriously, thanks.
