So, it took me two days and one busted bolt, but the mods are in!
Started right up on the first try too!
Not bad for a guy who's server certified, not wrench certified!

I followed THESE instructions from the Taylor Vmax site. They worked out pretty good for a guy who didn't know what he was doing.

I was also going to start my MSD ignition, but decided to wait until the D-6AL box arrived.

Here are the pics of the install!

Working on removing the upper intake:

Upper intake has been removed!

Busted bolt in lower intake, what a PITA...

Finally got the bolt out. I had to get replacement bolts, lock washers and flat washers from our bolt bin.

Completed upgrades DONE!

Your gonna need the vaseline for when the shop hands you the bill for the whole weekend. It wont hurt as much! LMAO:imo:

Haha, the shop is family owned so I don't pay for labour, but I"m at the mercy of the Mechs who work on paying customers first! In this case, they are so damned busy that I had to do it myself. I had to google lots of stuff during the process, but I took my time and went slow and followed the instructions. I only had to call an apprentice for help a few times...

I am SOOOOOOO not a mechanic. My back aches, my arms ache. I have new wounds on my hands and lower forearms. And I have a new found respect for the guys who do this for a living. Three hours some of you guys said it took you??? How about two days for me.

That sounds like a funfilled day

Ummmm, no..:(

Just make sure you replace all of those intake bolts! I'm pretty sure they're torque to yield anyways.

I did.. lock washers and flat washers too...

Order ARP stainless bolts for the vortec intake. The same thing happened to me! The bolts are worth it. Don't forget to put blue thread locker. Max torque on the bolts is 11 lbs. Use FELPRO MS98000T gasket kit. IMO these are the best intake gaskets.

The intake spacer kit came with gaskets and o-rings, etc. The kit instructions were pretty adament about using those or I would get vacumn leaks. I used what came with the kit... Thanks for the info!

Yes boy!
I can't wait to go test the mods out!

The first thing I noticed is a smoother idle, and the miss when going up a hill is gone.

Hopefully next week or so, I can test out the fuel economy.

howd ya get it out??

Please don't laugh, but I used a small jewellers flat screwdriver against the broken lip, and hit on it with a very small hammer, very lightly. Enough so that it turned out little by little. Eventually, I could get the needlenose vice grips on it and then just turned it all the way out. :D

In my mind, I was very lucky. It could have been worse.
