Woot! I've booked this Friday for the install! The shop's got a bay open for me for the whole weekend.

I've pulled the TSB that says how to install the MPFI spider, and the instructions say that it will only take three hours, but I"ve got all weekend booked, incase something goes drastically wrong.. Haha...

IDK where the MSD ignition box is. It still hasn't arrived yet.. They say it's on backorder, but I'm gonna do the rest of it.

I"m getting excited!!!

BTW, both sets of instructions for the MPFI and the intake spacer says to have vaseline available... Anyone know what for? Why would a mech shop have vaseline in it? Please, no rude comments.....I already know what some of you are gonna say....Let's hear from the guys who have already done this....

unknown at this time.
To moistene the gaskets for a easier time trying to fit the plenum back on over the gasket on the new spider. Also helps to seal better. Even after I got it down I still had to pull the spider up slightly so the connector would lock on. I used motor oil. PITA.

Well, I've spent 10 hours on it today...
I've been following the Vmax spacer installation instructions, down to the letter. Taking my time, doing things right, etc...Putting every part/bolt/nut in a bag, labeling the bags, etc.

6 hours to remove the upper intake and clean up both intakes.
The last 4 hours re-installing everything.
I get to the part where I have to torque down the upper intake. I skip the final torque down because I can't find the torque wrench anywhere. I move on a bit doing the PVC, Purge valve, Coil and IGN module. Then my concious gets to me, and I call the apprentice to ask where the torque wrench is.

I start on my first intake bolt. The specs say 83lb/in. Wrench, wrench, wrench, snap!

I'm crying...
Tomorrow, I have to take it all apart again and get the bottom of the bolt out.

I'm tired, sore and cranky that I had to call my wife to come bring me home tonight.

It's a good friday my a$$.

Just make sure you replace all of those intake bolts! I'm pretty sure they're torque to yield anyways.

Order ARP stainless bolts for the vortec intake. The same thing happened to me! The bolts are worth it. Don't forget to put blue thread locker. Max torque on the bolts is 11 lbs. Use FELPRO MS98000T gasket kit. IMO these are the best intake gaskets.
