I personally have a hard time seeing in bad weather at night. Just want to give this a shot to see if it helps. Going to do the fogs first to see if it helps at all.

Idk about 3k led, but 3k HID does nothing for cutting through fog. For visibility in fog, 3k halogen is effective.

Other than that, its just for looks.

Is that speaking from experience? I personally like the look and coverage of my 5000k fogs but they don't help as much as I would like. I chalk that up to the color temp.

Yes. From experience and scientifically speaking.

My led Morimoto fogs (driving lights) are rated at 6k and I love them, but we rarely get fog here in NC, so its no use in having fog lights that are 3k. It very rarley snows here either, but my 5500k headlights at night does the job just the 3 days out of the year that we have snow here.

All depends on application. It's worth it for me in Alaska (snow). I can see hids throwing off too much glare , depending on specific housing type. My nbs tahoe housing is long and skinny which has very little throw up into eye level, mainly straight forward and side to side shine (which fogs are suppose to be designed for lol)
Most late model cars/trucks have garbage fogs to begin with, no matter what type of bulb you put in them.
