Sent my package to GM a few weeks ago with receipts for the repair (3rd party) as well as packaging and shipping expenses. Does anyone know if they are covering these expenses and how long does it take for processing?

It has been 3 months since I submitted the reimbursement form for the tail lights. GMC Customer Assistance (Philippines call center) can only tell me that they received it in February and that it is under review. Repeated calls and emails and Facebook contacts all say the same thing. Repeated requests to speak to a US based representative are denied.

Has anyone received a check?

I replaced my tail light housings myself using aftermarket assemblies and submitted a complaint at nhtsa.gov. These lights from GM are whack. Completely unacceptable performance for a $70K vehicle.

I would expect no money from GM. They hate NHTSA complaints. You should pile on from that angle. If enough people complain, then it will motivate GM to make changes and possibly compensate.

they are issuing refunds how long that takes I don't know but this has come up numerous times and known affected customers have received letters from GM

I submitted the form directly to GM on February 11th 2020. I had both taillights repaired at different times by Dave Ruberg in Winona, MN. I claimed the repair cost, shipping and packaging costs and provided receipts. Total was $367. Did not hear anything so started raising hell with Customer Assistance in Philipines, letters to GM facebook etc. No reply other than an occasional we are checking. May 13, 2020 out of the blue a guy calls and says he wants to apologize because "this is not the way we do things at GM". I received a check from GM a few days later for the full amount I claimed.

If you google "N182180270 Tail Lamps Inoperative" you will have the special policy. I have attached the form you use to this post. You have to submit the request before 12/2020.

Never got that letter from GM. Checked the my.gmc.com for the N182180270. It is showing as expired for me. It does have a date of 4/18/21 for expiration, but the number of miles is 72,000. I am well past that limit. Thus, I expect that they will not pay me.
