My gauge is always around the 200* mark, normal stop and go around the city (with no towing) with outside temps anywhere between 60*-80*. Cooling system is stock and all fluids are non-synthetic (for now). Only had it for a few months and waiting for the oil life to expire (while I get my synthetics in order).

Anyways, I thought I read somewhere anything above 190* could be construed as high....? Should I look into trying to get the engine temp lower?

Thanks!

Nope, pretty sure that's where mine sits when fully warmed up, just short of half way!

living in SoCal... is it advisable to put in a lower degree tstat to keep it cooler? I was always taught "cooler running = longer lasting..."

Not with these cars. they need to run a little warmer for emissions.

First of all, if it's a new to you vehicle, don't rely on the oil life status to tell you the condition of your oil. Just change it noting the condition of it and start fresh with your own oil life reset. You don't know if the last owner just reset the oil life over and over without changing the oil.

As far as the coolant temp. If anything it looks to be running a tad cold. Keep an eye on it as you may have a thermostat slightly stuck open.

Tstat in my 2006 YXLD runs exactly the same temp when fully warmed up. I also live here in socal. Although I live up in big bear so we don't usually see outside temps above about 85. But its a pretty dry heat up here in the mountains. Never had a problem with engine temp @ that temp since I bought it a little over a year ago.
