Z55 rear air shock good/bad?

With the Arnott shocks you may find the drivers side air line is too short as well. The connection is located lower that the factory.

Thats true for one of the shocks with simulators. The rebuilt ones dont have that problem

Dont do anything with the compressor except unplug it. Its currently working, at least by sound. Unplug it.

Replace your shocks, I suggest the Arnott replacement above, but buying them thru Summit Racing is the cheapest, for the same part.

Find the part you need directly on the Arnott website.

Take that part number and plug it into the Summit search engine, you should find them.

There are 3 separate part #'s shown on the Arnott website.

AS2708 is a direct rebuilt part, and it will work like it did from the factory.

AS2715 is a new replacement part with simulators to fool the factory system.

AS3430 is the same as the AS2715, just a cheaper variant.

Once you replace the shocks, plug the compressor back in. See if the air bags fill. If they fill, you should be golden. if they dont fill, unplug the compressor, and likely you will have to replace it.

If you need a compressor, I used the Dorman brand thru Amazon. Best price. Not had any issues with the Dorman brand on this part (cant say that about any other part they make thou!)

Mine did and I did buy the AS2708 shocks and had to use a longer line on the driver side. Others here had the same issue. I think @Doubeleive?

Thats just really weird... All they do with the rebuilt units, from what I was told by Arnott, is verify the function of the shock itself, make sure it meets factory specs, paint it, and replace the bladder. Maybe they are actually rebuilding the internal valving, and oils.. If so, the price they are selling them is a huge savings!

When did you get yours? I called and talked to them February 2021 and they indicated that they were rebuilding them with new seals and bladders. When mine came I could see that they had blasted and painted the body of the shock but they had a new rod end and connector as well as a new bladder and plastic bladder cap. Here is what they told me via email and that backs up a phone call I had with them.

ya I had to buy a nbs oem air line kit and use one of the lines from that kit, the arnott shock made the drivers side really tight
Don't buy a dorman air line kit they don't come apart

the whole top portion of the shock is now changed they did a redesign from when they first started producing the refurbished units

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably buy a pair of Arnott shocks soon. What are the opinions out there on the front "electronic" shocks that come with the Z55 option? Is there a way to check them?

There is.. Requires a Tech2 scan tool.

Did you unplug the air compressor? Its just a relay on the side of the under hood fuse panel.
