Had a nice warm day this weekend, so I did a quick drain and fill on my transmission. I used an oil extractor and it worked like a charm. No mess.

I’m really glad I did, because my transmission oil is pretty worn, and I’m pretty sure it has never been changed. I only replaced 5qts for now, and then I’ll replace another 5qts once I drop the pan to replace the filter.

So far, the transmission seems a bit smoother - I’m going to order the filter and gasket so I can be ready for the next warm day off.

Thanks! Ah you're right haha - they're by far the biggest mirrors I've ever had. I may switch them out for smaller ones, but I do like the visibility the provide on such a huge vehicle.
just bought a 19 tahoe.. the mirrors are pathetic.. not sure why they insist on cutting off the lower inside corner on an angle... first thing i thought of... bigger mirrors.. sure, it makes it look like an elephant, but who cares? i wanna see back there..looks like a bolt on swap.. are they plug n play?

I hear ya- I really like the visibility!
I believe they are a pretty easy swap, but mine were already installed when I bought it, so I’m not sure.

One thing to note though is that you might lose the power folding functionality. Mine do not power fold even though I have the button.

tow mirrors with power fold are a bit pricey compared to non fold, probably why.

Where did you extract the fluid from? Did you pull the fill plug by the exhaust heat shield (the place where a dipstick SHOULD be)? I'm assuming you just put in 1 for 1? Did you check the level with trans pan bolt after it was warm?

Just wondering because I've never done an 8 speed myself......yet. After the last stealership idiot that did it and left it low, I plan on doing this myself from now on.

I assumed that based in the year, but could be wrong (?). I thought OP stated he had the 8 speed. I was wondering about the process since there is no dipstick on the 8 speed.

No I’ve got the 6L80 6-speed.

I extracted the fluid via the transmission dip stick/fill tube - it was a super easy process. Then I measured what I took out, and filled it back up with the same amount and checked the level after a drive.

I’m also going to do another drain and fill when I drop the pan to replace the filter.
