I feel the Z71 is a much nicer looking trim level than premier. its a shame
I agree with you 100% about how you I feel about Premier and High Country trims, that’s why I purchased two weeks a ago a 2021 Tahoe Z71... I’m happy, but I’m not happy since to be truly happy as you probable I would need the 420HP Of the 6.2L engine which as you said it’s only available now for the 2021 Tahoe High Country. My ideal choice for a 2021 Tahoe is not available Yet, because everyone would buy that configuration and they would stop selling High Country and Premiere configurations. Indeed, if you save $3,000 on the 4WD option and go for a sporty RWD featuring the mighty 10 speed 6.2L and have a modern / sleek look with the one offered by the RST trim and its tropical wheels basically you have a bitching 2021 Tahoe with 420HP a great look for less money than a 5.3L 2021 Tahoe Z71. My recommendation to all the friends of the forum is wait for the RST that sooner or later it will become available and you will get more value for the bucks! I bought my Z71 and I’m happy with the 10 speed transmission, but every time i turned the car on I don’t hear the noise of the 6.2L V8 engine and the power is some how there, but nothing to make you smile... The thing that instead I really like about my Z71 is the color, indeed the new color graywood metallic in combination with black wheels and the black grills gives really a Odeon unique look, it so sleek and everyone looks at it when I drive around. So I have the look, but not the horse powers which will come with the RST 6.2 RW. For five years I’ll drive this, next time I’ll go for the 6.2L regardless, but this time I couldn’t buy a 2020 6.2L since the interior was so outdated and the 2021 High Country with its 79K price tag was just unjustifiable under the circumstances since I’m not a big fan of shiny chrome wheels and to change those to black would cost another 3 grands + installation and probably 3/4 weeks to get the right rims in.

Is it true that the 2021 Z’s don’t have a G80 (or similar) locker?

It's true, I saw it on TFLtruck on YouTube yesterday. They were able to find a spot where a locker is needed, and the 21 Z71 they were in spun only one rear tire and one front tire, and they had the tire smokin! I think a locker is available, just not standard.. I can't confirm that though.

Supercharger. Problem solved.

For now superchargers are still not available and 2020 models are not a match

I watched that as well. No locker is ridiculous. I can get the rear independent suspension for improved packaging but if you are going to put a Z71 badge on the vehicle at least have it able to go offroad. Even if it was just a more aggressive "e-locker" algorithm with the brakes.

What's different about the 2020 models? From what I understand they didn't really change the engines. At the very least a centrifugal setup should still work.

GM is going to have to study Toyota to figure out how a truck is supposed to be built - breaks my heart!

Z71 is too low of trim option. GM wants more profit. also they dont want the Denali & Cadillac owners ticked off, LOL

High Country has 6.2L option, as dealer by me has one on lot.

engines are slightly diff in 2021... as they now have Dynamic Fuel Management[ DFM has like 10 or 12 modes avail].. (where the '15-'20 had Active Fuel Management - had 2 diff modes)

2021 Tahoe have new rear suspensions, 10 speed gearbox also available on 5.3L engines and a new interior with a bigger display. New Tahoes cost an arm and a leg and I can’t wait for the 6.2L RST version to come out; when that happens I might sell the Z71 and switch to the beast.
