I've done some searching and couldn't find anything specific to my application. Basically, we have an 07 Tahoe Z71 with stock LTZ 20"s on it and 70k on the clock. We also have the original 17" wheels and it wasn't much better. The ride is just too stiff for us (especially the wife). I understand that the Z71 came with tighter (and higher?) suspension.

My question is, does anyone have any experience or recommendations on replacing the shocks to make the ride more bearable on the Z71? Preferably without replacing the springs. I understand the Tahoe is basically a truck but my friend has an LTZ and the ride is completely different. Every bump or rut we go over I cringe. I don't want a lot of sway or an overly plush ride per se, just something to take the edge off a bit.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I love the way the Z72 rides.

Shocks will make little difference.

I have Z71 shocks on a basic LT.

Your springs are fatter and stiffer.

The trucks does sit higher as well

So what if I get some Bilstein shocks and some more forgiving springs, maybe Moog or something of that nature?
