Advice on purchasing a used 2003 with 100k miles

Yea this is the rust that concerns me but if its not to bad cut it out por15 and spray indont care how it looks as long as its contained

What state is this in? I'm in Colorado and am looking at a 04 Yukon with 273,000 for $3900.

Side note: Would any of you guys buy one with 273K on it? Lots of service records, things were replaced as needed. No visible leaks from looking under it. Pretty clean. That mileage kind of scares me. It ran really smooth and drove nice.
My '05 Yukon XL has 175,000, It is perfect, inside and out. No rust ( except the typical surface rusty coating that every vehicle has ) Engine, transmission, suspension operates just fine. Since it's a southern state truck, ...no rust damage at all. The only trucks that have rust issues, are the ones used for a 'pool service' or salt water at a boat ramp, ( if the moron doesn't rinse it off after)

If everything checks out I'd buy it. I bought my 03 back in 2012. It had 212k on it but it ran and drove smooth--and it was clean in and out. It was completely stock too.

Totally agree... These truck will last a long time when maintained. As long as you can determine, this Tahoe was 'reasonably' maintained, ( under hood may give you evidence of this ).... You could be getting a good deal, since many folks imagine, the mileage is a problem. In a truck, it's the condition - not mileage.
( How do, the brake rotors look like?? )

for me that would highly depend
1. on my need
2. availability, I have zero issue's with traveling to get one and driving it back (this alone greatly increases the availability)
3. condition, leaning heavily on condition, when the owner says it was "well maintained" well the proof is in the pudding.......
4. price compared to the competition
sometimes the trick to buying a good used vehicle is being the 1st one there, if the price is really good it's going to be gone before you can get to it.
then it's just luck.

The rear brakes were done in 2022. The fronts at the time had 11/32 of pad according to the work order. I didn't think to look at the rotors when I looked at it. It looked fairly clean underneath. Didn't see any major rust or leaks.

From the records they sent me, it got a new battery and alternator in 2022 and canister vent solenoid as there was a code for it. Last trans service was 2018 at 237K. Also did blower motor, power steering hoses, intake manifold gaskets, knock sensors, oil pan gasket, shift shaft seal at the same time. Transfer case actuator and module were replaced also in 2018. Work order shows it was stuck in 4 low. New instrument cluster in 2018.

I guess my newest hesitation is that it is the full time 4wd/awd transfer case, with 4 low. Are these systems reliable?

I'd be very careful, but it wouldn't necessarily keep me away.

LOL, have you asked the classic old question- "Highway miles or city miles?"

Carfax is not the magic bullet some guys think it is, but it can help. Or that bumper.com [I assume it's about the same].

Also, that price is low enough that, if some serious repair expense did sneak up on you, you stand a good chance of still ending up with a decent deal.

A 2001 Tahoe has been in the family since '03; with zero issues with that same 4X4 setup. The only failures on that truck have been an oxygen sensor and a fuel pump.

It's hard to believe that it has 100k miles. Look at the interior wear and post some pictures. I would pass with that type of rust damage.
