So I changed my engine. I had a misfire at first. Got that figured out. Had a knock sensor code that zi clear it. (Do you torque your sensor? I did, even the old engine had same issue. Installed new sensors). Any way issue is that it starts cold just fine. When hot it will crank no start, second time it will start but with a detonation ( sounds like a disel) or a knock, or like when car is running out of gas in the movies. Did change crank, cam sensors and oil sending unit. Otherwise the engine runs great. Oh and I have Installed shorty headers.

Which engine? Flex Fuel or not? Make, model, year?

If it's consistent and you know it will crank-no-start when hot, try using clear flood mode. Hold the accelerator pedal to the floor to turn off the injectors and see if it will start first try. If it does, suspect a leaky injector or a bad evap purge valve on the engine.

What do the fuel trims look like when it's running? Anything from the old engine used on the new one, or is it totally different?

Hopefully the knock sensor harness was replaced along with the sensors.

When cam and/or crank sensors are changed, a CASE relearn is suggested. Not always necessary but get a scanner on it to run that quick correlation.
