Power liftgate bar and mounting bracket

A bolt on the power liftgate mounting bracket for the bar broke off. The locking mechenism on the top of the bar has disappeared so that the bar will not stay on the ball. I am going to have to drill out the bolt and replace the lift bar. Any tips for disconnecting the bottom half of this bar?

Sounds like it should have a clip like the top part. ? I haven't looked myself..
Need to remove trim panel first.

Sounds like you’re talking about the hydraulic strut. Is it the one for the entire lift gate or the glass?


Did the little clip on the strut end cap break off or did the ball socket affixed to the truck break off?
