WAIT.There were zero aftermarket parts on the car in question, aside from 1 step colder plugs with a reduced gap.
GM sent me a letter explicitly stating that they were denying my warranty claim, and canceling the powertrain warranty going forward due to the non-factory PCM file.
I'll see if I can find the letter.
...
It wasn't the tech who did it. GM sent a warranty rep out to validate the claim.
It was a 2014 Sonic RS that grenaded the turbo seals, and then drank every drop of oil before I could get it off the freeway.
Looked like 007 dropping a smoke-screen behind me
GM warranty rep scanned it, found a non-stock file, and I got a phone call that day.
3 days later I got a certified mail letter from GM stating my powertrain warranty was null and void. What they used to scan it, I have no idea.
I looked in my file-folder for that car and the letter isn't in there. I'll dig through the other drawer some day and see if I can find it.
WAIT.
Just noticed something ...
This injustice did not actually happen to a GMT900 vehicle ...
This is wholly true. I have a SC on my 2012 LTZ. Trans went out 14k after I bought it. Dealer tried to tell me I'd still owe $1200, and I told them "I think the *#$K not!". I eventually got them to balance it out to where I owed $0. I threw the tech $200 and left a Amsoil fluids for the trans, transfer case, and both diffs, and a CircleD 3200 in the back, and got it back just as I wanted.I had the work for the service contract (S/C) on our 08 YXL Denali done at a GMC / Cadillac dealer as well as well as the Indi shop I’ve stuck with since 2015.
Dealers and s/c companies do not get along. The dealer will overcharge the s/c company and the s/c company will deny your claim. Neither care about you, only going after each other.
A dealership can & will tank your s/c (purposely) after covered repairs are carried out so you’re stuck with the bill. Stick with the Indi shop. They have discretion to make the repair as well as use upgraded / aftermarket parts.
