I used a dremel with a cutting wheel for opening it up. Once opened blow out all of the plastic dust and chips. Then go to work on finding the bad leds. When I was finished I just used silicone to reseal. Mine has been working for a year now so I guess it will be ok
So we should just read thru the entire forum to figure out what you are referring to? It would be nice to show the thread you believe is important and relevant to this discussion.

I would take it back to where you had the repairs done. It sounds like something has either been overtightened or never lubricated properly and binding. It could get worse and lock your steering and that would be a disaster.

The denali center console is different. They have that door inside because things can fall down in there so easily when you lay them on the drink older cover. I've dropped my phone in there twice in the past couple of months

I will take mine apart tomorrow to show you how I attached mine. Here are a couple of pictures if the secret door. Not really a secret and my usb ports are for charging things. My goal was to keep things hidden as much as possible.

Its a great location for switches and also for wiring. There is lots of room behind the cubby so you shouldn't have any trouble at all. The next switch I add I'm going to take pics of the area behind too.

I'm a firefighter and I used the cubby spot for switches as well. Like mentioned above just find a piece of plastic and get creative with the dremel. I plan to add more switches in the future.

If you're patient with it then you won't have a problem. I used a long shaft small head flat screwdriver to release the tabs. Honestly I was more afraid of breaking it when I put the mirror back on than taking it off. It requires a fair amount of force to get it back on. That really is the...
There is a spring and a pressed on fastener that holds the spring in place. That fastener might have come loose. The only way to get to it is remove the mirror from the housing, take the 4 screws out that hold the housing together and then you will have access to the spring. The mirror actually...
This is a suggestion for everyone doing the led conversions in their vehicles. Many peoples complain about dark spots due to not enough LEDs. Before you install them take a minute and lightly sand them. By doing this it will redistribute the light of the led more evenly. I have been using this...
Rebuilt my 3rd brake light and made a built in 2 port USB carrying station inside my center console. All you have to do now is plug in an USB cord into one of the ports and you can charge your phone or iPod. Also did the aux input mod on my 01 Xl denali. Once that was done I got a Bluetooth...
I know this is an old thread but I decided to cut open my 3rd brake light. It is LED and it seems that the LEDs go out easily. Its like Christmas tree lights, once the LEDs start going out the entire light quits working. I found 3 of them bad in mine. Replaced the bad ones and its now working...
