Transmission – Intermittent Hard Shift w/ Check Engine Light?

Update: Replaced EGR valve, ERG solenoid, MAP sensor, idle air control valve, engine temp sensor, and gave her a tune up (MSD 8.5mm wires, rotor, cap, delco plugs). Ran fine with no recurring issues until today - same issue happened once. Started up fine early in the am. Leaving work...

Transmission – Intermittent Hard Shift w/ Check Engine Light?

I def need to change the EGR - makes sense to eliminate stuff that is a known problem to help isolate the underlying issue. Other things that Ive found that could cause a problem: Throttle body base gasket - sucking air causing high idle and hard shift TCC value wear issue Throttle Position...

Transmission – Intermittent Hard Shift w/ Check Engine Light?

I have a 1995 Tahoe, 4x4 with 5.7L 350, has 285,000 miles right now. I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue that I’m having. I get an intermittent hard shift out of first, but only when my check engine light comes on. Most of the time it runs fine, with no...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Sunlit, here is another question for you. So I haven't taken the control unit out yet to see what the backside looks like, will do that in the morning. But this week, yesterday had a new issue. Drive home from work, and it doesn't blow cold at all, even though several hours before it worked...

A/C blows, no air out vents

New update. When sitting at idle in park, and have system turned off, get blinking lights on recirc and AC button and can hear the compressor clutch cycling about 3 times a second. Thinking AC control now. Still don't know how that would case an obstruction though.

Fuel pump going bad? 95 tahoe

11 psi until system turned off, then goes to 0. Did not check as I did not throw a light. I actually had someone do it for me as I didn't have the time and didn't want to get stranded. Performance is much better, on the crank and accelerating. Only thing is they also replaced fuel pump...

Fuel pump going bad? 95 tahoe

Got that nugget from a "high end" mechanic. Of course he also said the unit would be 700 if he did it, when I found Delco at XL parts for 225. So is my basic assumption accurate - that the pump should maintain pressure in the line when the system is off? Not talking about at the fuel line...

Fuel pump going bad? 95 tahoe

Okay so testing pressure in fuel line right before fuel filter, has pressure when on, but pressure goes to zero when turned off. Thinking pump should retain pressure in the line line when cut off instead if frail fuel back into tank. Replacing fuel pump assembly. I'm guessing better to...

Fuel pump going bad? 95 tahoe

Looking at replacing my fuel pump in a 95 Tahoe. Any reason to think that a bad or cracked fuel pressure regulator in the throttle body would cause fuel pressure in the line from the tank before the throttle body to be low - as in computer controlling pump getting a bad signal an lowering...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Well cleaned that sucker off, lots of gunk. Seems to be blowing better. New mode door actuator as well. Will see what happens.

A/C blows, no air out vents

Lol! Ya unlikely. Read a thread somewhere about something like that happening, got sucked into the air intake. Not sure what to think - not the compressor, so prolly not the switch, not the fan, resistor, or mode door actuator. Stuff on the evap coil, that falls off and gets sucked back up...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Had same issue, low flow, everything else seemed to be in order. A/c button light was still on. Turned A/c button off, quit blowin cold after about 10 minutes. Turned button back on and I got cold again very quickly. All while air flow was very low on high setting. Same for recirc button...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Sunlit, you talking about the switch that plugs into the dryer? If so, I've replace that a couple of times, truck would not cool at all, definitely noticeable. And would that obstruct airflow somehow? Current problem I'm getting some cool air, just seems flow is obstructed. Thanks.

A/C blows, no air out vents

Thanks Sunlit. It is definitely not the resistor as I had the same problem this am on my commute to work, was only 10 minutes in to my trip in the early AM so I don't think anything got too hot. So I guess when I experience the issue just pop the hood and listen for the compressor clutch to...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Thanks Sunlit. I believe the compressor is still running as the little air that is coming out of the vent is still cold. When you say fan switch, are you referring to the resistor? How much air flow is normal to get out of the floor vents when you have it selected for dash vents.

    Add-a-leaf squeak

I'm going to epoxy the spring tip spacers I found online to the AAL first and see how long that holds. Will give an update when they finally fall off.

    Check engine - EGR

Okay, got an explanation as to why. The aftermarket exhaust valve nipple is not the exact length as OEM. The exhaust valve nipple on the 95' is a touch longer than the newer models and so instead of having different specs on the entire unit, the aftermarket manufacture will adjust length of the...

A/C blows, no air out vents

The more I think about this the more it seems like a mode door actuator, even though 3/4 agree that it is the resistor or blower motor. Only thing that makes sense to me. It is probably failing, and falls back to some position that is blowing air in all directions / vents and obstructing flow...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Transitioning nicely between blower speeds and vent direction, better than before. Although smelling a little burning smell? Maybe the new resistor is heating up and burning off some packaging oil or something?? ---------- Post added at 06:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:24 PM...

A/C blows, no air out vents

Pulled the glove box to get to it. Sure not much room. Blowing cold now, full force. Will have to see when it gets hot. Next thing to get replaced is blower motor but supposedly the resistor is the problem 99% of the time (according to guy on YouTube...). Guess it gets too hot and...

Door opens from outside, not inside

Yep. Plastic handle. Wasn't broken all the way, just cracked enough that it wouldn't fully engage the latch. New one works fine. Thanks for the help.
