What makes GMs SUVs worth the $$$

In their current state Unions are the downside to our society IMO. Now the end product is more expensive to pay for the union related crap. Employees should not get a majority of their pay if they are sent home due to lack of demand. Personally I wouldn't buy a new GM luxury SUV. Even the...

Things that make you realize you love your Hoe/Kon/Escalade...

6,2 has a nice exhaust note and my Denali XL is extremely comfortable for long trips. The power definitely moves the 6000lbs easily, even when you are carrying another 800-1000 lbs or so. It just swallows luggage/equipment also.

    Security Accessories

My local dealer was about to charge me $300 for the install for both. They said they had to program the car's computer twice which was a lie. They reduced it to around $150. I bought it from partstaxi.com. He has the best prices and fair shipping costs. I cannot remember the price for both...

    Extended Warranty?

$900 is a real fair price. Here are a few things to watch out for though. In the end every one is different. Watch out for deductibles as even paying $50-100 a pop can get expensive over time. I have one on my Denali and my Impala and haven't used either yet. My Impala was a real pig...

    New Onstar Agreement Update email

I must say I'll never use OnStar again. They really screwed up and currently they still can collect data if you do have an account and I wouldn't rule out them collecting data if you don't have an account.

    Stabilitrak off, service brakes, help?

Stupid question but did you check the brake fluid? Low brake fluid would cause both issues. I know it was real cold here in Utah and the brake fluid on my 07 Impala was a little low. ABS/TC/Brake warnings came on. I just had my dealer replace the fluid but it fixed the problem.

    New Onstar Agreement Update email

GM should dump OnStar and reduce the price of all of its new vehicles by $600-800. That would gain some interest in their cars. We as a society has become so much of a wimp when it comes to convenience it is pitiful. We are scared to drive down the street without someone standing by if...

    New Onstar Agreement Update email

Watch out, eventually this crap will become mandatory in new vehicles. OBD III is supposed to be able to send an alarm if your emissions are not in specs. It wouldn't be hard to do with onstar right now especially since they share info with the DMV.

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

I never did hear back from the GM source on this thread. I decided it was time to email GMC. I received a reply back within 24 hours, 2 calls actually. One from GMC customer service, the next day from the District Service Manager. From what I was told a dealer cannot deny a warranty claim...

    New Onstar Agreement Update email

I started the thread on the Corvette Forum. I cancelled OnStar in all 3 of my cars. Ok, they can track fuel ups (when, where), fuel economy, speed, location, other things that your car already tracks (engine rpm, braking, etc). I have a facebook but only so my family in the Philippines can...

    Tech II Programming Cost?

$100 is about right. I had the tilt and motion sensor installed and they wanted $200 to reflash both. I asked them why are they charging me twice for the same job. They dropped it to $100.

    Used Vehicle / Dealership Woes

I doubt they even inspected the vehicle in the first place. Certified is like additional insurance. Dealers do take a long time to fix vehicles these days. I wouldn't take my vehicle to them to repair outside of the warranty since they just use the trial and error technique with you paying...

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

Elizabeth, Were you able to find out if they can deny a power train claim if I don't change the fluids recommended by the dealer but well with GM's specs in the owner's manual? Thank you.

    life expectancy

Parts are also widely available making them somewhat inexpensive to repair. The guy in his Lexus, Audi or MB SUV will be hating life if they keep the vehicle pass the warranty.

Anyone with a 2011 Yukon or Tahoe

Heated steering wheel is great. My wife has lupus and raynaud's syndrome. She uses it anytime the temp drops below 70 or so. That is one of the main reasons we bought the Denali XL besides its size.

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

I looked under my Denali this morning and the transfer case is about 2 feet inboard of the driver's door, so yes AWD does have a transfer case. I'm sure it is slightly different that a 4WD version since there is no driver input. I just got an email from the service manager asking me about...

    My tires always squeek?

It is also a disadvantage of having wide tires. My Corvette Grand Sport tires do it all the time when going around sharp corners say in a parking lot. I'm not embarrassed at all by it. I would be more embarrassed to have a car such as a Prius that is too quiet that people don't know it is there.

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

It has 36k miles on it right now. I thought all 4WD/AWD vehicles had some kind of transfer case (to get the power to the front wheels). I would look at my Denali right now but my wife has it at work. If it doesn't have one then I'm going to be real pissed since I can assume what they showed...

    Next Generation Tahoe/Yukons

I agree, lighter either means small or using lighter more expensive materials. Small engines are not always as efficient as their bigger counterparts.

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

I agree, this one pretty much sells Buicks/GMCs but in the same area they sell Hondas also. I guess they are finally remodeling the place. Even big dealers can be real bad though. There is one in this area that I would not take my Chevys to no matter what.

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

I paid them for the oil change and rotating the tires (which they tried to overcharge me for) and that was it. When I stated I know what the owner's manual says about maintenance intervals he said "It changes every day." I told him to prove it and he walked away. I'm seriously thinking...

$650 for new fluids at 36k miles?

So I took my 09 Yukon XL Denali in for an oil change and tire rotation. Service manager comes out and shows me the fluids on a board suggesting I change everything except the brake fluid (he didn't mention that one) for $650ish plus tax. He said the axle fluids were black (they looked dark)...

    front drive axle leak... warranty?

It should be covered since it is part of the power train. I wouldn't take a no from the dealer without raising heck with GMC.
