My Service 4wd message came up after the recall work was done. They did the relearn on it and so far so good.
I cycled it again yesterday with no message.
Yours is the Transfer Case Control Module gone bad, not unexpected for your year and mileage. Its a pretty easy fix on yours, but not necessarily cheap.

GM really needs to figure this out before it snowballs...
Why do some of you want to make us early buyers feel bad about our purchase. And I think most of us agree that the 8 will be better. But, my 6 speed will be fine till I replace it in a couple of years when it is mated with the 5.3 and has a little time in production. I have never bought the...
Exactly.
Oh and don't forget,
GM sucks because they cant fill the enormous amount of orders for POS 6 speed equipped vehicles that nobody likes because the theoretical 8 speed is awesomer than all the others.
Note: Spelling error was intentional and I am not a professional driver and I am...
Gotta love forums. " Its not the car, its the way "you" drive", awesome.
The V6 seemed under powered which forced it to hesitate and hunt for a down shift in slow traffic. Caveat, I am not a professional driver. Thus my observation is both unqualified and meaningless to this thread.
I want to...
Was there this much bashing when GM changed transmissions in the previous model. And the 8 speed is no surprise, I knew it was coming in March when I ordered mine and didn't give it a second thought.
Anyway, washed mine this weekend, took the family out, outdated 6 speed and all. Have fun...
After reading this I had the wife cycle ours and it worked fine with no light. My dealer did a simple relearn on the Tcase and it seems to be holding. I truly hope they get it worked out for you.
This is dealer problem. Mine tells us to bring it in early and gives us a loaner while its being done. Not all dealers are created equal. I custom ordered my SLT XL and had it in 3 weeks, why, because the inventory manager modified an existing dealer order instead of starting from scratch. A...
It is. :)
If you cant buy it, build it (or have it built). I did, and its awesome.
GM did not change the body bolt jig for the new model. From what I understand, You can bolt the new body to the 2007-14 3/4 Burb frame, then swap in the Diesel and voila, NNNBS 3/4 ton towing monster. Mine...
So no 8 speed till mid 2015 for the 5.3. So none of Chevy line up is getting it till then. Wow
The Chevy LTZ guys are getting screwed for sure. I cant figure buying the top of the line Chevy product and not getting the 8 speed, but buying the GMC top of the line product you do.
I have the SLT...
GM dropped the 3/4 ton Suburban, that is what I was referring to. the 2500HD is the truck. I believe GM made a huge mistake dropping the 3/4 ton Suburban/Yukon XL, but unfortunately they don't build vehicles just for me.
200 miles since the relearn and no light. Fingers Crossed

Last Chance, do you run yours in Auto or 2wd?
Also is everyone here running the 2 speed 4wd or Single speed. Mine is 2 speed with 2wd, Auto, 4hi, N...
A small lift is in order. And you will need to take a saw to the front air dam. That thing is stupid low.
I think it will do what you want, but an 07-14 3/4 ton would be better. The 3/4 ton gives you leaf springs in the rear for better hitch weight. Plus 6.0 V8 and better ground clearance...
Have you had the oil changed. If you have, they may not have seated the drain plug. Happens every time I get mine changed, so now I just have them torq it before I leave.
My 89 Grand Waggoneer doesn't leak oil and they are the worlds worst.
Well the dealer did a relearn on my transfer case. I have cycled thru it multiple times during a 20 mile drive with no issues. I am not confident at all, but we will see.
I think operationally it depends in what mode the error occurred. Mine seems to be hung up in auto 4wd. I would be real worried if it were hung up in 4hi. It would be undrivable in 4 low or neutral. See if your dealer can tell you what mode it is hung up in, that would determine weather you...
Add me to the list of people with the "Service 4WD" message. We have driven our from day 1 in 2hi. Today we hit a heavy downpour so I flipped it to Auto 4WD. Stopped for dinner, got back in and flipped it back to 2wd and the indicator never illuminated. My dealer has been great on...
