Started with annoying noise in dash = transfer case module bad

VERY annoying seat shift.

Now - leaking oil!!!

$75,000 vehicle with 3k. Nuisance.

I am going to check it out tonight and see where it is leaking. Right in the center - rear main area. 3 large drops on my painted garage floor.

Sounds like a rear diff seal. If I remember right, seems like my '07 had a bad front diff seal that had to be replaced under warranty and this was a common issue back then.

Have you had the oil changed. If you have, they may not have seated the drain plug. Happens every time I get mine changed, so now I just have them torq it before I leave.
My 89 Grand Waggoneer doesn't leak oil and they are the worlds worst.

THANKFULLY it was just the oil filter.

Never been changed = loose/bad from factory.

Any suggestions on filters that don't leak. I've seen a lot of 07+ drip from the filters.

That's a relief. I've tried K&N in cars I've owned in the past with no issues. Leased last few cars so I haven't cared about the filter to much.

10-4 on that. I think I'll try Wix and see if they drip or not.

Was the noise from the dash coming from the 4wd selector knob? Sound like a high pitch chirping sound?

Kinda...more like a high pitch electrical noise. It was the transfer case control moduleabove the accelerator. Only did the noise running. Pretty easy to pinpoint if that is it plus once you know where to look.
