    Torsion bar question

Hmmmmmmm..... Yeah, I assumed it would only ride better during bump transitions. If the suspension isn't being compressed, they aren't being used. I'll have to pay better attention and see what my truck is doing over bumps. I don't think its bottoming out so its not been bothering me yet. It...

    Torsion bar question

Mine are literally destroyed on my 02 (214K). I didn't know they would make that big a difference on a stock height truck. Maybe I'll switch them out for shits and giggles if they are that easy.

    Oil leak

Mine was easy- just time consuming. 2WD truck, borrowed a friends lift in his shop. Really couldn't have been easier (except for fighting with reinstallation of the tranny cooler line clips and the dipstick tube)..... These trucks are remarkably easy to work on. Yeah, doing that job on a...

    Oil leak

The inside of my bellhousing was dry and it was the rear main and/or rear cover gasket. I had two mechanics look at it and they couldn't tell where it was coming from. Its a ***** to diagnose. I changed my oil pan gasket first, then the intake set (removed the intake to check the oil...

    I NEED!! I NEED debadgers,help!

My drivers door molding is fugged up - (door that got painted so must have been hit)- the chrome spear has been replaced by some mickey mouse chrome tape that looks OK from 20' away but shit up close. I can't just buy the chrome spear- I have to buy the entire molding for $100. And then it...

    I NEED!! I NEED debadgers,help!

I can't decide how I feel about the front end. It looks cool but I don't know if I want it for mine..... I guess I'm 50/50 myself. I'm scared to take off my door moldings for parking lots. People are assholes. That and I've got some paintwork on the bottom of one of the doors- only below...

    smaller sub options?

I did not sir. I just bolted by adapter to the front of the factory box. Where/how did you trim off 1/2" of the box? Did you mill it off? Here's what I might do instead..... I think I can mount the JL sub directly on the enclosure without an adapter plate if I seal off those round...

    polished stock 16"s?

I did a complete detail and polish on my 96 ZX-9R, wheels, frame, everything and it was show quality. But the maintenance was a *****- and that was on a motorycle that didn't get out much. I can't imagine the upkeep on a set of daily driver wheels.

    smaller sub options?

doesn't effin fit... Fit the 8W3 into the factory box- used a 3/4" sectiion of hickory as the adapter plate. Damn plastic trim cover won't clear it.... Sounds pretty good....but that factory enclosure is definitely a compromise. I think it sounds good with sub-bass (played Big KRT...

    smaller sub options?

I am thinking the big plastic trim/finishing panel that goes over everything will be what really buzzes. The box is a lot sturdier than I expected. The factory sub was complete shit (mine had completely dry rotted) but the box is pretty tight.

    smaller sub options?

OK- thanks. That was what I had figured you made. I've got all my parts in the truck here at work and am going to a coworkers after work to get this done- he has a huge woodshop so what would take me 3 hrs to do will take 15 mins at his place. We're going to a) make the adapter plate to use...

    polished stock 16"s?

sorry man- shipping from coast to coast would not be worth it just for factory wheels.

    smaller sub options?

Couldn't wait until next weekend. Went out to the garage and pulled the factory sub enclosure. I measured the volume (filled it with water, measuring the water) and its 0.35 cubic feet. JL recommends a 0.30 cubic foot enclosure (for a sealed box) so if I put a block of wood in there to take...

    smaller sub options?

OK, picked one up yesterday. $177 locally. Got a small dynomat kit too (I'll use on the outside of the enclosure and inside the quarter panel. The shop gave me a scrap piece of hickory (they don't use MDF) to use for the adapter. If you have any pictures of what you did to fit yours I'd...

    smaller sub options?

Agreed, once you run a sub something is missing without.... I'm stopping by the local shop that carries JL today. If you've got a picture of the MDF mod you had to do to the factory box I'd sure like to see it....

    smaller sub options?

$159.99 Shipped from online carstereo warehouse. $199 from crutchfield. There is a local shop that carries JL. I may stop by there tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. I have a family road trip in June so it'll need to be done before then....

    smaller sub options?

Awesome. Looks like I'll be shopping for the same sub. Appreciate it!

    smaller sub options?

do you mean physically in that it fit in the box, or as far as the volume required for the sub to work properly (per JL's specs)?
  21. NC_John

    smaller sub options?

exactly. you have to match the sub with the proper sized enclosure... so......anybody know how big the factory one is?

    polished stock 16"s?

OK, thanks. It'd be smarter for me to look for a factory polished set if I wanted to go that way. I've only seen a few like that so didn't think it was a factory option.

    smaller sub options?

Yeah, thats why I run my 12". This is the fourth vehicle I've had it in. The funniest was a 96 cadillac deville I bought for $300 (clean car, absolutely everything worked). The system I put in it was worth $2,500. The car was built and insulated so well it was the perfect platform for a...

    polished stock 16"s?

I've got the stock beater 16" wheels on the hoe. I've seen them polished on a few trucks. Was that a factory thing or did the owners do it? I've got some pretty severe corrosion from wheel weights on one or two of my wheels but they are otherwise damage free. Giving them a polish might be a...
