New cats and exhaust will be here today!

New cats, exhaust and 02 sensors installed with little to no problem. Leaving everything loosely installed, I started tightening at the manifolds and working my way back. Everything lined up and sealed great. I did have to bend the flange of one of the cats just a little to give clearance...

    Temp gauge!

Mine rides between the first and second little mark after the first big mark (if that made sense). Always rides there and temp is spot on with thermostat.

New cats and exhaust will be here today!

Including time to put Wlibur in the air and get him on stands, it took 20 minutes total to get the old exhaust and cats off with no power tools. Tonight the new stuff should go on. I will post pics of it all once it's done.

Need advice...to buy or walk away. Pictures included

That looks like the undercarriage of 100% of the vehicles I've ever seen that are driven daily and 15 years old or newer. It's very clean with common surface rust on parts (rearend and frame) that would take many many more years to rust out with that little surface rust on them. A little...

Wheel / Dashboard vibrating with road

Not sure what all you've done already but: for dash: make sure the 3 hold down bolts on the top of the dash near the base of the windshield are tight. Push in on the dash with one hand while you carefully see if they are snug. A lot of times the dash will crack around these bolts. Walking J...

    Shop Service Manual Set

That is correct. You can pay for one year or for five years. Typically there is a discount for going 5 years. I use alldatadiy for all my vehicles. I really like it. Nothing is perfect but it blows those cheap $20 haynes and chiltons manuals out of the water.

New cats and exhaust will be here today!

Well, here are some initial pics. No crying or hugging yet. Barely had time to open and setup to oogle at it. The last time I installed the magnaflow cats was several years ago and I don't remember it being two pieces like this one it. I came with a nice wide clamp so I don't anticipate any...

Maybe I'll find a pic of her from 15 years ago. :-) It's okay........I will tell her I said that. She's used to it. If I wasn't such a smartarse she'd think there was something wrong!!

    Distributor ?

I know there are always exceptions to the rule when parts will fail but on your dizzy I think you're good to go until you do get some errors. For what it's worth, a very good friend of mine just turned over 400k miles on his 1997 tahoe and the engine is bone stock original. It has had the intake...

New cats and exhaust will be here today!

Okay guys, my magnaflow cat assy and flowmaster exhaust assy along with Delco O2 sensors (from amazon) should arrive today. Will get them installed this coming weekend. I have a code for a bad sensor post-cat and the cats don't sound too good when banging on them. The muffler is all original...

    Distributor ?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Of course, if you're luck is like mine and it does break and you DO fix it....4 other things will go bad right after that.. or If it seeps or leaks and you fix it....it will still leak when you get done. HA!

    Installed my new Eddy shocks!

Nope they won't. From what I understand they are being discontinued....like a lot of other stuff for our rides (magnaflow cats-49 state legal and flowmaster 17166). Guess they are getting too old to maintain tooling for. Sucks.

    Installed my new Eddy shocks!

I got my new edelbrock shocks installed and took it for the first test drive today. WOW! I thought my original bilsteins were still good as they still compress and extend like they should but... Maybe the eddy shocks are just that much better. I drive 8 miles in central Ks. to work down a 55...

Aftermarket radiators can be a pain

THe two tahoes I've owned and at least 3 other obs chevy trucks my dad and brother have owned, have all been flared end with threaded nut that went into the trans cooler..fwiw. Anyway, guy at O'reilly was real nice. He had a few of the murray hd rad in stock. He showed them to me and said...

Aftermarket radiators can be a pain

Just spent 2 hours installing a napa radiator in my 1997 tahoe and then another 2 hours trying to get the dang tranny cooler lines to quit leaking. I failed. Sometimes I hate how poorly designed aftermarket stuff can be but I'm money poor and time rich. Since I need it early monday morning, it's...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

    Front seat leather DESTROYED

I bought all the replacement leather for my driver seat from the seat shop. Brian is an awesome guy to deal with. If you've never done seats like this, it's still easy. I've done several chevelle seats with hog ring, etc.. before. Including time to remove the driver seat and reinstall, it took...

    Redo leather interior

redoing leather seats may be cheaper on the coasts but in Kansas, the local shops wanted $150 minimum just to replace the outer bottom piece that commonly tears. I ended up ordering 100% leather replacement covers for my '97 from the seat shop. I removed the old leather, hog rings and all...

longer shocks with 1" zero rate lift block?

Will the stock shocks work with a 1" zero rate lift block and cranking the keys up front to level the tahoe or do I need longer shocks? Thanks. Working on a bone stock 1997 tahoe 4 door 4wd.

    Redo leather interior

I don't know if they go back to '94 (I know they do '95 and later) but The Seat Shop might be able to help. www.theseatshop.com I used them to buy new leather for my driver seat in my '97 tahoe and I talked with the owner Brian. He was awesome to deal with and the leather he sent me matched...

    What brand O2 sensor?

Hi all, I'm getting ready to replace the O2 sensors on my 1997 tahoe, 5.7L. I know to stay away from the Bosch brand of sensor. What about Denso? Anyone have any experience with it, positive/negative? My local Napa carries Denso O2 sensors and I like doing business with him. If need be, I...

97 chevy tahoe turning over but wont start

This might not be your problem but check your cap and rotor. Mine were less than 2 years old, tahoe had been running absolutley perfectly. Went out to start it less than 12 hours after parking it the night before and it would not start. A big rain storm was moving in and the moisture in the air...

    New edelbrock shocks

Thanks for the heads up dsltrc. I'm hoping that's the case with mine. Summit showed the rear shocks as 'shipped' but the fronts as 'backordered'. We'll find out in a few days. Now to figure out how to tell the wife I just spent $200.00. HA! Hard to pass up a good deal.
