Dreaded Effing lifter tap...... - SOLVED

Yep, that would be enough to change my calculus, too. My wife and I are fortunate in that we both work from home, so the only dispatch reliability she cares about is being able to pick up the kids from school, take them to appointments, drive them to events and friends' houses, etc. She LOVES...

2015 suburban weird issues in the rain

Welp, you're gonna have to move to Arizona or Nevada, I reckon. Or...can you give us just a bit more info? Specifically, what codes does it throw during or immediately after such an event? My bet is that you have a wire or a connector that's getting wet and shorting to ground. The only way I...

Dreaded Effing lifter tap...... - SOLVED

Congrats on the easy fix, even though I would wager it's a temporary band-aid. On the bigger picture, as @L8T BURB says, only you know your financial picture, available time for making repairs, and your need for 100% dispatch reliability each day. I'm going to differ with the recommendation...

    Good to know, thanks!

    2018 Yukon Denali grinding/knocking noise

That's quite a bit of play in the bearing. Should be tight with no up/down movement. Slight in and out movement is okay. Hard to say if that's enough play to be your problem, but it does tell me that you have a worn bearing on that side of your diff that should be replaced anyway. You can do it...

radiator leaking, what replacement is everyone using

Like Wes, I had an all-aluminum 2-row radiator in my 2012 for 3 years before it started leaking. The original was still fine, but I wanted what I thought would be better cooling and better durability. And like Wes's, mine was unrepairable but also no longer returnable. In my opinion, they're a...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Thanks, and no need to dig - I would use an additional factory-look toggle switch on the dash, keeping the factory fog lights in place.

    Battery Size

Ah, I can see where you would conclude that from my post. Sorry for not being more clear. I only meant turning the battery on its side to get it in/out. I set it back upright once I got it in there. Side note: mine is a 2018 Suburban 3500HD, so it came with two flooded lead acid (not AGM)...

    2011 Escalade - worth repairing?

Yup. But they're easy to replace if you remove the fender liners and use one of these to drill out and remove any stragglers: https://a.co/d/gamZKKe

    A/C Condenser

Year, make and model would help us help you. The next step I would take is to take it to a local indy transmission shop with great google reviews, and have them diagnose it properly. If you're handy though, have the tools and know-how to work on your truck yourself, I would as Rygrego suggests...

    Battery Size

I didn't have any trouble getting a new 94R into our 2018 by laying it on its side, as others have suggested. The factory flooded battery didn't leak a drop when I laid it on its side to get it out, either. Took 10 minutes max to do the swap.

DOD delete low oil pressure beat!

Impressive resolve to get shit done! One concern though: Many of these steps seem like masks on the underlying problem of low oil pressure. The root cause of that is usually a worn/hardened o-ring on the oil pump pickup tube. Have you changed that out yet?

Idea On Cost To Replace 5.3 Engine? 2015 Yukon XL

I'll add some perspective from a longtime owner of these trucks to weigh in your thinking. My first was a 2002 Suburban that now has 310K on it. I know this because I sold it to a friend with 228K on it and he's still driving it every day. Our '07 has 248K, and our '12 has 143K. There are lots...

Yeah, that changes the picture. Hope he's okay and you can get it sorted out. Let us know if you need guidance for getting it back together. Rock Auto sells the diff mounts.

    BW4485 Transfer Case Rebuild DIY?

It's not a difficult job. The hard part is the planetary set needs to be clocked right for it to work when you're done. There are some YT videos out there of guys rebuilding very similar TC's that might be helpful. The BW4485 in my '07 has had a ton of slop in the chain for the past 55K at...

Can I drive without front differential?

That's correct. Can't be driven that way - it won't move. And the diff mounts are sold as complete parts and although it's a little tricky and takes patience, they can be replaced with the differential still in the car, so I have no idea why anyone would remove the whole front diff then try to...

About to cross over 100k miles in my 2018 Tahoe Premier 4WD

Get one of these for sure! Seriously though, get all of the fluids changed. Oil, transmission, both differentials, transfer case, brake fluid, etc. And think seriously about having AFM tuned out by a pro. A @BlackBearPerf tune will disable AFM and wake up the engine and transmission, while...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Got it all loaded up for camping this weekend. While it looks like there's a little squat, there actually isn't. It's just because there's a street drain depression on the curb side that the pax end of the rear axle settled into. The tongue jack is down to keep the weight off the suspension...

Cant bleed brakes 2008 Tahoe LS

Thanks for following up. Glad you got it sorted. For future reference and for others here, GM Tech2 scanners and equivalents have a procedure for bleeding the ABS system. It's a step that's not usually necessary for most routine work like replacing a caliper, but can be helpful when the pedal...
