    UV Degraded Headlamps

My Yankee frugality has kicked in and is confusing me. I recently replaced my UV degraded headlamps, turn signals and Tail light lenses on my 97 2 door with brand new GM parts; LOOKS NICE! I'm trying to clear out my garage of unwanted clutter and I keep coming back to these replaced lenses...

Thanks Tbruz Update: I do have the stock am/fm/cassette radio in perfect working condition(all perfect knobs too) just realized its been in a box for longer than it was installed in the truck! Also...

    Part name/number needed

1997 tahoe 2 door. My interior upholstered door panel on PS was loose and I've discovered many(ok almost all ) of the white "pins" that hold the upholstered panel to the door are broken . Id like to replace them all if I can figure out what they are called or preferably a actual PN. Thanks in...

    Refurbished OEM CD Player.

The seller should stand behind his "refurbishment". If not and you want to; its easy enough to rebulb it yourself, I recently rebulbed that exact radio. see my comment in the audio and electronics section of this forum; takes about thirty minutes IF you can solder. Tbruz

Drivers side seat belt PN needed

1997 Tahoe VIN ends in VG188225, gray interior. Driver side seat belt is no longer operational. It won't retract and it won't Lock-up/bind up when pulled rapidly. Does any one have a PN available for a replacement; this is the retractor side(door side). Thanks in advance. Tbruz

Leaking drivers side quarter glass on a Tahoe 2 door

exp500 - Thanks for the suggestion. That top gasket along the roofline is not where the watertight seal is created. While it may divert water away from the glass to body adhesive seal; Its more of a cosmetic gap "filler". Was easy to visualize today when the glass was out of the body opening.

Any tricks for aligning sway bar holes -SOLVED

VICTORY! Todays attempt with both wheels off the ground went a lot better than yesterdays single-lifted-wheel effort. I was able to get the new end link in from the bottom up versus the original one being installed top down. Then I ran into PNW VietVets comment about"...not enough threaded rod...

Any tricks for aligning sway bar holes -SOLVED

Trying to replace the PS sway bar end link on my 1997 Tahoe. Easily removed the broken link with a sawzall but the re-assembly has me cursing and ticked me off enough to walk away after 60 minutes of struggling. Tried a pitch bar, jacking up , un-jacking, lifting opposite rear corner...

Leaking drivers side quarter glass on a Tahoe 2 door

To be clearer, this is the drivers side rear quarter glass on a two door, very large glass. So no misalignment of glass or damage to glass run is possible as its a fixed glass Thinking I may have to remove the headliner to track it down. Will try the flowable silicone along the upper edge to...

Leaking drivers side quarter glass on a Tahoe 2 door

1997 2 door Tahoe. I have a leak that I think I've traced to the top seam of the drivers side rear quarter glass. Called an auto glass company and they were not interested in trying to remove and reset that large side glass; claimed they were not willing to take the risk it wouldn't break on...

    Re-bulbed my stock CD/Radio today

As part of a "while you're in there effort" on my dash/cluster refurb (temp gauge replacement and NOS pointer replacement) I was able to re-bulb" my stock OEM CD/radio today. Youtube has a pretty good video on taking the radio/faceplate apart, I had 8 of the 10 illumination LEDs burnt out...

    Temp Gauge question; Calibration?

Thanks for everyone's input. Based on the same reading with three senders, I'm ruling out the sending unit being bad on the head - too bad as that was such an easy fix. I was able to dig up a spare cluster that a friend had and I will install that to get a reading using a different gauge. If I...

    Temp Gauge question; Calibration?

1997 Tahoe, 5.7 engine. My OCD is acting up and I'm tired of seeing my temp gauge read about three hashmarks too low for the actual temp(verified actual temp at 187 with scanner). Each has hash is about 14 degrees so the indicated temp is showing between 140-150. Today I replaced the...

    Question on doors

1997 Tahoe 2 door door replacement question. Are the doors of a 2-door Tahoe unique or are they the same as a Silverado pickup truck? Curious as to any options available to replace a door on a 2-door. Thanks in advance Tbruz

    Timing check question

1997 5.7L Tahoe. Can the engine timing be checked AND adjusted without the use of a bi-directional scanner, i e can you check it with an old fashioned timing light? Thanks in advance. Tbruz

    Feeling Accomplished

Thanks Orange. Mine is 4WD and I'm not feeling the desire to do this one myself. Tbruz EDIT: my mechanic charged me 5 hours labor to do this; I had the oil cooler lines replaced at the same time so that may have added an extra .5 hour. I found this pretty reasonable.

    Feeling Accomplished

Orange57 is your Tahoe 4WD? Did you need to jack up the engine to get out the oil pan for the gasket replacement or is there enough room to drop the pan. Staring at a oil pan gasket replacement myself and I'm not 100% sure I personally want to tackle it. Thanks Tbruz

    Feeling Accomplished

Congrats! I also use planned car repair projects as therapy; you get a great sense of accomplishment and you can leverage off of your successes and failures too. Next time try something harder or outside of your immediate comfort zone. My favorite line to use when considering doing a job myself...
