I would still do it. I did those mods before I had my cam and stall in.
I wouldn't boost the line pressure though if you did both. It will shift HARD. I would get it tuned for faster shifting though. Justin at BB tuned mine.
Yes it is worth it. These 4L60e/65e transmissions blow up under a good amount of power.
I have the tru cool 40K, both servos, and it is tuned for faster shifting and line pressure is boosted. My 1st gear just started slipping when I load it on my converter about 2 months ago at 106K miles...
If his current transmission isn't going out now or doesn't have high KM then I would just do the Transgo HD2 shift kit, corvette servo and billet 4th gear servo with billet cover. And a bigger transmission cooler with thermal bypass since you live in Canada.
Just drop the pan and change the filter. should take like 5-6qts.
Do the diff services and make sure to use the right fluid with the friction modifier.
Also if you didn't change the coolant when you did the thermostat do that too.
Check brake fluid, and power steering fluid too.
