No I run a tuner on both trans and ecm... 4.88's even with 35s really sucks unless you want to rock crawl with it... But if you want to rock crawl with it then a solid axle will be necessary because the front diff is a weak point.
This is slightly exaggerated but, if you want to feel what...
Most likely he has a 6L80E and with 33 tires anything over 4.10 will be horrible unless you plan on running 37's In my experience running 35's with 4.88 s they will get about 10 mpg highway tops and it will be a slug on acceleration it will also be shifting into 6th gear around 35 mph. It...
One important factor is does he have a 2 speed tranfer case??? The following advice is based on having a two speed tranfer. With a single speed case it might be better to have the 4.11 gears.
The 2011 should have a 6L80E and running on 33's with a limited slip the 3.73 should work out fine...
Thank you those videos are pretty helpful. Fortunately I have a lot better fabrication equipment than those guys. I will do my design on CAD and use a CNC plasma cutter to cut things out. I might use hidden hinges on mine if I put a door in.
I just need to decide just what I want to do...
There will be no reaction since the two metals will never be in bare contact with each other. The rear windows are glued in and I can use the same stuff to hold the panels in place with possibly some extra hardware or clamps if needed depending on what I do with them.
My windows already have 1...
Aluminum can be plenty strong enough and weather proofing a hatch is pretty simple. The stock window is glued in and could be reinforced with extra hardware if needed. As an industrial design engineer I would have no problem with making this work.
So far as the front seats that is not the...
As most of you know I have an overland Tahoe... Right now I am just thinking out loud...
What I have in mind is removing the left rear window and replacing it with an aluminum plate. I might do the same with the right window or a variation of things below... Here are few ideas of what I am...
I agree the tanks are very difficult to find when leaking. Mine leaked for a while and the trick to finding it is to pressurize the system. and look for air or coolant escaping.
On the street they are better than stock and handle great. Off road I have done 70 mph on desert trails and wash board roads. I have hit tall speed bumps and 3 foot wide 1 foot deep washouts at 30+ mph with no big jolts.
Mine are not off the shelf units they were custom made for my trucks...
I did it a few years ago on my 2011 it works great. It's a simple swap over.
Transfer case, Dash switch and TCM For mine there was no programing and it still uses the same wiring harness.
I have replaced rear brake lines several times in the last few years because I was breaking the lines when off road... Every time I replaced the rear lines I was by myself. I filled the M/C put a clear hose on the bleeder and put the hose in a bottle. Cracked the bleeder a little bit and went...
2011 Tahoe.. 235k miles. 4 inch lift, on 35's 4.11 gears, King suspension.
I do a couple thousand miles a year off road...
Out in the Nevada desert on a 350 Mile off road run that weekend.
Catching a little air up front...
Black Rock desert where they have Burning man.
DO NOT GO TO FOLBECK 4 wheel IN RENO They will screw you and they do not stand behind their work at all... I paid them 15 grand to customize my truck and a few months later when their gearing job started making noise they would not stand behind their work... I had to pay another shop to...
I am not sure I would agree, I have custom built King suspension for my Tahoe I supplied them with exact weight on each wheel and the type of driving I expected to do. With both sway bars it is far more stable in turns on and off road. With a well tuned suspension and sway bars I don't see...
