    CV Axel Replacements?

Thanks, guys! I am just biting the bullet and ordering an OEM axel through an online GM parts dealer (GM Parts Nation). It's cheaper than buying from a local dealer, and it's at least genuine GM (hopefully). BTW...Razzle does not do GM axels (tried asking the guy). However, I really like to...

    CV Axel Replacements?

Yeah...I am going to have to shop around. Amazon is an option, but I am not sure what I will get. I have had experiences of getting parts that were not as advertised or were not new. Local GM dealer wanted $550!

    CV Axel Replacements?

Thanks, guys. I am ok with spending more. I mostly looking for which ones to avoid. Also, I can't shop at Rock Auto. They won't ship to my location (Colorado), because there is a separate payment to state and city tax that they don't want to handle, so SOL for me at RA.

    CV Axel Replacements?

I need to replace my left front CV axel for my 2009 Tahoe with 140K miles. The OEM part number for CV Axel assembly on this vehicle is 22789359. In searching for this part, the cost is running about $300 to $400, and some change! What alternative axels would you suggest that don't cost as much?

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

Thanks, Dustin! Great information! I thought I was seeing too much play, so thanks for your confirmation. The steering always felt fine to me while driving and did not feel like it was loose or clunky, so I had not a reason to look at it until I started to investigate the popping sound. Still...

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

I checked the rack and pinion today. I did not get any popping sound, but I did see something and need opinions. I turned the wheel from lock to lock and videoed the movement of the rack and pinion shaft. How much play should there be? Is mine moving too much?

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

Thanks. Yeah, that makes sense. I am going to replace it.

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

Thanks. I am wondering the same, too. Yeah, these are the original ball joints. With 140k on them, I probably will change these out. I have been looking to replace the UCAs anyway for the lift I want to do eventually. However, I really want to source out the sound before throwing a lot of action...

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

Thanks, James. When I got the replacement axel, I assumed the nut from the old one would work since it was the same Genuine GM ACDelco part as the old one (same number). I will replace that nut soon but baffled why the nut would not work well since the axels were supposedly the same. Lesson...

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

Thanks. I put an ACDelco on and not a Dorman. Here is the one I purchased... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B13WZJO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But, let's say that the nut was wrong and I did not get it seated and torqued correctly. Would a failed hub make that...

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

The axel is new. At first, I thought it might be the problem, but the sound does not happen all the time. Been half tempted to put the old axel back in - even though it has a torn boot - just to see if the sound goes away. But, a lot of work to do that swap, then swap again with the new one or...

    Left-Front Suspension Popping

I have a 2009 Tahoe LT with 4WD with 140K miles. This vehicle also has a 2" ReadyLift leveling kit (spacer on top of coil-over). I also posted in the Engine and Drivetrain forum, but I am looking for more opinions and this forum is more about suspensions. I have been getting a popping or...

Popping sound from driver side front.

Thanks. With my videos and everything I have described, does it seem like it's my ball joints that are giving this popping sound? I really would like to isolate where this sound is coming from when I drive my Tahoe and get this fixed. Do the videos give any indication that at least the upper...

Popping sound from driver side front.

With the sway bar links totally disconnected and then a test drive, I am still getting that popping sound. So it's definitely not the sway bar links. Got a video of the popping sound this morning. You can hear at about 0:47, 1:47, and 2:30 I lifted the Tahoe by the left lower control arm and...

Popping sound from driver side front.

Thanks. I think tomorrow I am going to maybe disconnect the sway bar links to see if it stops. Part of me is still thinking it might be those links. I am also going to throw a GoPro on too and maybe it can capture what part is throwing the sound. I'll check the rack and pinion mounts too but I...

Popping sound from driver side front.

Thanks. Any reason to think it may be the CV or hub? I really would like to rule these out.

Popping sound from driver side front.

Hello, I have a 2009 Tahoe LT with 4WD with 140K miles. This vehicle also has a 2" ReadyLift leveling kit (spacer on top of coil-over). I have been getting a popping or thumping sound coming from the driver-side front area that usually happens when the wheels are turned to go right. I don't...

    BDS Lift Question

Thanks. BDS has three versions of their 4" kit, and I did get some answers from them, too... Strut - It's a strut made by Tenneco that is just the shock without the spring. You would use your OEM spring on this strut. Tenneco is the same company that makes Monroe and Rancho shocks. I got an...

    BDS Lift Question

I am trying to decide between the two versions of the BDS 4" lift, which are struts vs. Fox coil-overs. The Fox coil-over version is nice, and the coil-over with VSC is very nice, but these come at a substantially more cost. BDS 4" Kit I am trying to find out how much ride difference there is...

4-6" Lift Cross Member Cut Question

I did get a response from BDS. "The weld in plate is used to reinforce that part of the frame and may be required if a state or local inspection is ever done." To me, this answer still seems a bit grey.

I want to make my 09 Tahoe more off-road trail ready

Good advice! Yeah, I was getting myself confused with the terminology. I was calling what I have now a strut, and thinking coil-overs were something entirely different. Learning as I go. The Moog springs I picked up are similar to the springs I have on the Tahoe, now. I called Moog tech support...

4-6" Lift Cross Member Cut Question

I have been researching lift kits for my 2009 Tahoe LT. Currently, I am leaning toward the BDS 4" lift kit. Why 4" and not 6"? Lower COG, and I still would like for the Tahoe to fit in my garage. Anyway, looking through the install instructions for the BDS kit, I noticed a step to weld on a...
