    Debadging & Polishing my 96'

So My Hoe has been in need of some TLC for some time now. The wife and child are away for a few days so I have been busy on Debadging, washing, compounding, polishing and waxing. I'm 7 hours in right now, and only half way done. BUT, the debadging was kinda fun and I took a bunch of pics and a...

subs behind the rear 1/4 panels

blk88, If you want a higher sound-stage then mounting them in the pillars and pointing them toward the rearview mirror will really raise the stage. Only problem with this is that the seperation from the woofer being in the bottom of the door might make them very bright. If you don't mind this...

Tying to hide a sub in a 2dr Yukon...

Not sure on the thickness of the amp, but I would guess about 2-2.5". You should be able to squeeze a fan in there somewhere, or angle it out some other way. If you have clearance issues, I say bust out the dremel and get creative!

Yukon GT 's lets see some pics

I saw a Kick-A$$ Black yukon GT in Paramus, NJ yesterday. Looked very similar to gulleyman's only with larger rims and less aggressive tires and no grill guard. It was shiney!

Tying to hide a sub in a 2dr Yukon...

Here ya go... Fan mounted in the cup holder... (I used a hot glue gun for this. I also added a little screen for protection from debris) View from the underside of the cup holder (you can see the amp here too) View of the holes in the panel for drawing air into the area. (you really don't...

Tying to hide a sub in a 2dr Yukon...

gulleyman, I did this install of the amps just like you did about 4 years ago. To combat the heat and ventilation issues, I installed a small fan under the cup holder. I also drilled some holes in the rear area where the panels meet. I have not had any heat issues so far, and I do pump the...

Front Shock install in 12 Easy Steps

I sourced them thru Summit. They were i think about $65/ea (i'd have to review the invoice). I still have the rears to install, but they were ab0out the same price as well. I was originally going to go with the Edelbrock ISA's, but went the Bilsteins at the last minute.

    Spectre CAI?

I can only speak about the Spectre unit because that's what I have, and have not had experience with the others you mentioned. But, I choose the Spectre based on some simple research. It's not really a "cold" air intake, I consider it a "smooth" air intake. Nearly all the units out there...

Front Shock install in 12 Easy Steps

They ride pretty well. Especially since what I took our were the original shocks that came with the truck. Definitely smoothed out the ride quality. Much better then the original shocks. Tightened up the front slightly and made me realize how bad I need to attend to my steering components...

Front Shock install in 12 Easy Steps

Someone had asked about this a short time ago, and seeing as I have gotten a lot of good info from this site, I wanted to return the favor. This install was on my 1996 Tahoe 2dr with the 5.7L. but I am pretty certain not much changed from the 1996-1999 models. Step one: Shut off vehicle...

Got my Spectre CAI installed today!

grimm, There feels a 'mild' increase in the powerband, but this could also be a "I-can-hear-it's-louder-so-it-must-be-more-powerful" type thing. She groans loud, especially after 2800rpm. I definately can confirm a better throttle response on the highway. Around town, about the same. TXGMC...

Got my Spectre CAI installed today!

Some pics.... Had one minor issue with fitment near the battery. I was uncomfortable with the closeness of the guard to the neg battery terminal. I did some slight bending and created about an inch of clearance. it didnt affect the install but I got a little pice of mind with it.

    shorty headers

I just purchased a set of Edelbrock shorties for my 96'. Haven't put them on yet, but from a friend of mine that rebuilds/restorations he said they should do well for a simple upgrade. His steered me towards Edelbrock or JBA, then coated so it was Edelbrock. They weren't cheap, but he claims...

Got my Spectre CAI installed today!

Installed my new Spectre CAI today. Only took about 1.5hours. might seem long to some but I was cleaning some of the engine compartment as I went along. Install was clean and simple and the instructions were spot on. I took her for a short spin around the block, man does she groan when you...

    SS Brake Line Recommendations

Looking for recommendations on SS Brake lines. I am going with Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads upfront, still working on the rear drum decision. I figure while I am there doing that work, I should upgrade the original brake lines as they are many years old. There are tons of companies, but...

    My carpet needs some help

Hey good tips, thanks. I believe I will be going the removal route. Reason being is that I hope to get some mastic sheets (DynoMat-ish type material) installed in the rear area to reduce road noise. So seeing as I am doing that to mastic sheets, I am gonna look to get the carpet cleaned up...

    My carpet needs some help

Definately an option to pull it and replace with new, but that's money that can be spent elsewhere. I'm gonna pull the rear section (easiest to pull) and scrub her down. If she comes out alright, I'll do the front. If not, we're going new. Got any suggestions on places to source new carpet. I...

    Question on 1996 5.7L Exhaust

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It's dual from the headers to the Muffler. This includes dual Cat's as well. I am going to be doing a BBTune soon, but I am going for the CAI first. As far as engine mods, this will be it. She sounds throaty already, I am just a little shocked that is...

    Question on 1996 5.7L Exhaust

So I am looking into doing some exhaust work. Currently the truck is stock (as far as I know). My setup is a true 2" dual exhaust from the headers down until a common muffler (which is gynormous) with a single 3" outlet behind the passenger rear tire. Is this the normal factory setup...
