Rides more like a truck, more firm which I like. My mpg took about a 2 mpg hit with the lift and tire combo.
Note that the odometer will be off so you either need to account for that in your calculations or adjusted. I did the BB tune so got that adjusted and performance optimized.
No need for the front struts since that is what the spacer is essentially doing. However if you want to maximize the flex in the rear a longer shock is optimal like the 5100s.
You should consider a Black Bear tune. Not only can they adjust the speedo but they will also optimize performance. Way better than those hand held tuners.
Pimpin post some pics of your rig! Just from your sig it sounds awesome.
How do you like the sway bars and are they softer than OEM? I am looking for softer swaybars to have better offroad articulation (but do not want to totally lose on road handling).
FYI the 5100s at the lowest setting is 0" of increased height as reported by those that installed them. Some have used the 5100s at the 0 height and added the CCM 2.5" spacer (replacing worn front struts).
Based on your comment "like a 250" sounds like it rides like a truck not the softly dampened Denali. So I am interpreting that on the road the small irregularities cause small up and down movements kind of like it is bucking (very small scale though).
Did you try the adjusting knob on the...
Since you are 2WD (that is why I asked) you do not have CVs, but still have other issues to address. IMO I still would not do the spacer on top and bottom of the strut. Jack it up, remove the tire and see for your self what/how other components are affected by just increasing the total strut...
You indicate lift control arms. Do you mean spindle? Control arms do not provide any lift.
In any case those ball joints look like they are at a pretty good angle. I will need to check mine, but IMO at on 2.5" they should not be at that angle.
Is your rig 2WD?
Are you lifted? Do you off-road pretty hard and flex a lot?
IMO go with a good aftermarket one and make sure it keeps your swaybar at the proper angle (to accommodate for rear lift if you have one). FYI I put Skyjacker links on my FJ and I am pretty happy with those.
No update or additional info? This is why it is recommended not to go over 2.5" of front lift just using a level kit, full lift kits are a different story.
I was not clear on my earlier post. From the experience of others on here, install the 5100 struts (bottom perch not adjusted for any lift) then the spacer. Do not go over 2.5" of front lift with just a level kit because the CVs will be at a steep angle.
BG I would go for the RT, it looks more aggressive.
01 can you post pics of the Exos on your rig?
Also how much are those tires (RT and Exos)? I looked at those and they want ~$350 per tire.
That size will not fit without trimming. I have 285/65/18 with a level kit and had to trim ~2 inches from the front valence. 285/65/18 is ~32.60" in diameter and 285/70/17 is ~32.71".
