I'm not familiar with different tow packages on these vehicles. Can you elaborate? If there are multiple packages then the RPO codes in the glovebox should tell you what you have. You can find RPO code lists all over the net that should decode them for you.- Wake

Back in an Escalade.
Yeah, that would be an upgrade over an LS trimmed Tahoe. Congrats, I went from an 05 Escalade to my 07. I don't drive the SUV that much but was tempted for an 09 or 10 model for the extra toys that came available in the later years. At 3K miles a year though, I just couldn't justify $10K -...- Wake

Chambers on oem air intake?
That and usually a water separator as well in the design. If you look at the bottom of one of those downward facing chambers you should see a small hole for water to drain out.- Wake

2007 Avalanche brake problem
Check the caliper brackets themselves. I had couple of pads dragging and I ended up cleaning the rust out of the pocket where the pad clips go into the caliper bracket. I noticed the pad didn't move freely, like it was being squeezed from the ends. I probably took out about 1/32" or so of rust...- Wake

Shorty headers to replace rusted/rotted stock manifolds. Anyone done it?
Not looking for gains, just want to replace the rusted, rotting manifolds with stainless or coated shortys. Thanks for the tip on tapping the bolts, I hadn't thought of that. Penetrating oil is a definite. Since it is a pleasure use vehicle I can try to keep hitting it with the penetrating oil for a couple weeks before actually getting to the dirty work, I'm hoping that will help. I'm also...- Wake

Bad lower control arm ball joint?
I've done that in the past also. My experience with these trucks so far is that the lower control arms just need new ball joints, the bushings surprisingly look very good. The upper control arms I just replace as a rule since they are cheap and I haven't seen one yet that didn't have...- Wake

Shorty headers to replace rusted/rotted stock manifolds. Anyone done it?
Ok so my new to me 07 Escalade has a small exhaust leak on the driver side manifold. The stock manifolds look pretty rough so I'm figuring on replacing them with shorty headers since I'll need to take them off anyway. The limited research I've done seems to point to Gibson headers. Anyone...- Wake

Readylift 2.25" Level Kit Installed
Glad to hear the ride isn't compromised. I had this type of lift on my old Trailblazer and it didn't seem to affect the ride. On my previous 05 Escalade though, the lift/leveling kit was a new key for the torsion bar, that made the ride horrible enough that I swapped back in the stock keys...- Wake

Maybe another thing to look at would be shift solenoids in the valve body. GM used to have some bulletins out in the older 4spd designs about cracked solenoids causing bad behavior in the transmission.- Wake

If you work on your own vehicles a lot then yes. I spent about $2000 several years back and it has more than paid for itself in troubleshooting. Outside of the emissions part of the vehicle you won't be able to troubleshoot without a good scanner. Things like the BCM, airbag, entertainment...- Wake

Yeah, I know. Last time I changed them myself I had to use a 3' breaker bar on the tool and when the ball joint let loose it sounded like a pistol fired off a round. I actually jumped!- Wake

New to me 11 denali.
Stock is pretty nice, definitely better than the previous generation in sound. My new-to-me 07 (picked it up last Saturday) had a nice surprise when I went to look at it.
